A delivery lorry got stuck down a narrow street in the centre of Ipswich this morning.

The vehicle was jammed against the wall of a listed building in Northgate Street - causing significant delays and road closures in the process.

A recovery vehicle and 20 tonne winch was used to dislodge it and minor damage was caused to the outside of the building.

Poor driver obviously got lost and went pass the point of no return.

Looks like me he’s just left the loading bay ramp of the eastgate shopping centre, got to the end of the street and turned right

Down Old Foundry Road and that really tight turn into Northgate Street. Well nigh impossible. Must have been a satnav direction. Poor unfortunate individual. :blush:

I make a point of never ridiculing other blokes who end up in these situiations…Karma is a ■■■■■ and I know I’ve been in a few places and though ‘ooh this could be a mistake’ but managed to get away with it… Poor bloke!!

Whats the aftermath for the driver being stuck? Points, fine, dismissal?

Feel for him tbh. Imagine how embarrassed he must have felt. No doubt some grumpy local oap had a go at him aswell.

I do find it fascinating how companies plan for big artics to visit some stores in really ■■■■■■ locations it’s like all the burden just gets shoved on the driver instead of asking for advice from a driver if it’s viable to use such big trucks.
