Oops....someone forgot the handbrake

I ain’t read all this thread so excuse me if I’m repeating this but the Volvo handbrake comes on automatically when the engine is switched off but maybe the driver jumped out thinking he’d turned the engine off when in fact he left the engine running therefore not engaging the handbrake, it’s a good idea having an automatic handbrake but you can get very complacent.

What is it with the ‘doddery old git’ comments? Some of you not planning on growing old?

To be fair mate he did look a bit TOO old to be still doing the job.
I aint being ageist here, I’m the wrong side of 50 myself, and I reckon I’ve got quite a bit of driving time left, but I reckon even I’ ll be jacking long before I look anything like him.
I intend to enjoy my old age, that does NOT include driving a [zb] artic.

On second viewing he is not exactly flying the flag for an extended work life.

Re Trucknet CSI we need to establish how he was able to get out cab and retrieve timber before truck was on its way?

That’s the bit that doesn’t add up, the road looks steep enough to be an instant roll off.

One possibility is auto hill hold i suppose, that could time out long enough to get a few steps from the cab before it released.
Though as i recall the last bloody fiat stralis i drove hill hold was about as much use as ■■■■ on bull, by the time arsetronic had sorted itself out and the engine actually gained enough power to take up transmission again the bloody hill hold had long released :unamused:

Well, happily nobody got injured, well, apart from the drivers pride. When these f**k ups get posted on here I always wonder whether they are a member of this prestigious forum. If in this case this is so maybe changing his user name would cover his tracks…maybe something like…oh I don’t know…forest?

cooked drum brakes (like they do sometimes with new shoes) just holding on, little bit of cooling and off she goes. pretty unlikely I know, but there has to be a reason, I doubt it was moving when he walked alongside.
