My bad. I had 20 mins before 6 hours and then had 15 a few hours later (just over 4 hours of driving) with the intention on having a split break, only the tacho thinks my second break should be 30 mins as I’ve already registered a 15 minute. I’ll get the hang of these regulations one day!
I done a print out and wrote on the back the reason and signed it, hopefully that’s me covered.
It will say that as tacho regs is 15 min then 30 for split break WTD regs is a add on to driving hours and not compatible rather take driving hour break as they don’t punish for wtd
I might try 3 half hours over the course of a shift. One for the first 6 hours, one for the first split break and one for the second WTD & rest of split break. That sounds a bit easier to manage!
I don’t think you can play ignorance on this one, you know you have to have a 45 minute break after 4.5 hours driving but your breaks only add up to 35 mins regardless of how you’ve taken them??

Surely it would be easier to simply learn to do the job right
I can imagine you explaining to your new boss that you couldn’t get to a job on time because you had a break you didn’t need, because you find it easier that way
The reason that the RTD (WTD) breaks are set up so that a driver needs only 15 mins for 6 hours of work is that it works for the split driving breaks of 15 + 30
First 6 hours involves 3 hours of other work and 3 hours of driving then a 15 break is taken
The next 2 hours involves 1.5 driving and 0.5 other work followed by a 30 min break
The last 5 hours involves 4 hours of driving and 1 hour of other work
The total work time for the shift = 13 hours and the total of 45 mins breaks covers the RTD
Driving time breaks have been covered for the shift
Its really very simple, 45min break when you get to 4.5hours driving… If you dont cover more than 4.5hours driving during a shift then just take a break when your half way through the day…

Just ignore WTD breaks, everyone else does.
Everyone except my manager that is
Meh. Just make it up. I have to fill in sheets about it but I just pluck random figures out of the air and fill in the boxes so that it looks vaguely plausible. No-one gives a ■■■■, it’s just a paperwork exercise that’s all.

That’s nonsense, I know companies that will kick agency drivers off the job for getting too many WTD infringements, and will make their own drivers do refresher training then start disciplinary action if they don’t improve their record.

Never had that with any companies over here. Most of them don’t care and will even fill in your POA sheet for you if you “forget”. Anyway, as stated by others already, VOSA don’t care about enforcing the WTD and neither do the pigs so why should we? Just a complete waste of time.
