Ooh, one for the pole-haters

Carl:
god forbid that the british haulage industry invest in itself its no wonder this industry is in the state its in when haulage boss,s would rather exploit cheap forign labour than train there own staff.

well said carl, they dont want to m8, you know they want a 30 year old with 25 years experience!, they want us lot (any taxpayer) to pay the bill with the cry of the govt should do it, well, the govt aint got any money, it’s all ours! but wait, they dont have to bother at all now, just send a coach to latvia or somewhere!

i dont hate poles…

I wish that I could find the original post to this to see what kicked it off.
Here are some ramblings for you, But first so that you all know where I am coming from , I am a devout Englishman (not a nationist)
I have spent a lot of years in forigne parts doing expat work wich is all the eastern block lads are doing.
I am very ,very euro sceptic and would not trust them with the smell off my dogs [zb]
I believe Blair is doing all he can to get a federal Europe By the Back door. :imp:
Now then hope you get the drift of this
This government has made it next to impossible for someone in this country (no matter his ethnic back ground) to get a wagoniers licence unless he has a lot of time and money
This government has made it next to impossible for him to keep his licence
should he be lucky enough to get one because the police will only pull and prosecute british plates unless the other is involved in an R.TA.
My empoyer has bad has he is , is penalised because he has to pay my N.i. contributions, His competitors in Heysham are not because they pay thier drivers thru afron office based in dublin :exclamation: (Less than the minimum wage)
On safety … I have seen myselfe have a major row in refusing an unsafe trailer only to turn around and watch an E.U driver take it . :smiling_imp:
I have called the police and nothing is done. :smiling_imp:
Sorry to ramble but its earlly , Just think of those seamen on the hollyhead ferry sacked so their job can go to Europe and their boss make a bigger :imp:
profit :imp: A lot more to say but now i am rambling

If it needs stars it’s not allowed. l.

Okay So who would seriously turn down a Job abroad driving trucks for around 5 times the salary they are on now? (BTW Hi Chris, Hi John   )

At the end of the day, a carrot has been dangled in front of the Polish Lads and they have taken up the offer, we cannot condemn them for that, it’s the government at fault for not ensuring they are up to the UK standard of driving.

I’ve spoken to 2 or 3 of the Polish Drivers at Spalding and they are quite nice lads once you get to know them, yep their driving leaves a lot to be desired but they are trying their best and fortunately improving their skills.

well said tug! the federal eu is coming i think for certain m8, it’s got to be by the back door here becaiuse our mp liars never take a day off from lying, in the eu, it is an open matter in most countries, theyre a shower of ■■■■■■ and it can be guaranteed that they will not see to our interests.

Me again
Don’t get me wrong I don’t hate anybody on this planet I just don’t like being tricked into some thing I dont want. we have enough peoplehere that we can train to be drivers

It really won’t make any difference Mal, you will either have the British Government not taking any notice of us or a EU government not taking any notice of us :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

as Marcustandy said in another thread

you just know the odds are stacked against you 'cos you’re an ‘orrible trucker’!!

yeah den, they need a ■■■■■■■ with the blunt end of a rag mans trumpet!

I was once in a Seminar to hear how German Banks manipulate the Worldeconomy.
That Seminar was for Bussines around Airtraveling, but i don’t think that it works in the World of Sport a other way.
Do you remember as they build a Car too small for Nigel Mansell?

If there was a massive Government funded scheme to get these unemployed HGV licences so they coud fill the vacancies, people on this board would have the same type of posts.

I reluctantly quit HGV driving in 1995 because I couldnt get a decent legal job and also lost part of my hearing due working with flu and a faulty night heater. i got a £5k loan and did Open University and 6 Microsoft exams, no grants were available, I had to pay it all back. My computer business went well for 8 years then we hit problems with late payers, banks etc, as we had little cash available we went bust and my wife became very ill. I was too old to be employed in the apparently ‘young’ IT world despite experience and qualifications (58).
A case of pick yourself up and dust yourself down again so I came back to driving HGVs 2 months ago and I have had similar problems with defective vehicles (another thread). I struggled for 4 weeks with a defective tail lift and with curtains which were cut too short which made locating curtain poles incredibly difficult. I cant afford not too work so had to carry on and the defects were listed and reported for 4 weeks without being repaired.
Now I have been off work and in constant pain for two weeks with a bruised bicep muscle and twisted thigh muscle, I cant stand for longer than 10 minutes and we are in danger of losing the house if i cant get back to work soon (doc said 4 weeks to heal). I think the company is going to be iffy about me being off and are totally unsympathetic despite other drivers having the same problem with the vehicle.
I havent been able to find another job yet which is why Im unhappy about the ex soviet block drivers as I have a family to feed and look after too. The foreign drivers dont have the same living costs as us. Same thing happened in IT, Govt said there was a shortage of computer engineers and relaxed visa restrictions for Asian IT guys. Same thing, they were not quite as up to the job as British guys and their work was a bit shoddy, and the rates went down.
BTW, anyone know of a decent company in S Essex that needs a profesional Class 2 driver with Drawbar I would be eternally grateful.

Their economy is in such a poor state with unemployment at an all time high maybe they should do something else.
