Online DCPC??

Talk on another thread about weminars got me a thinkin’…

In this interactive age is there no way out there of doing a DCPC online??
Its not examined so there is no requirement for controlled conditions, you could just sit through an online presentation and then at the end get some sort of code to verify attendance.

No, legally it has to be done by attending a training course.

Does that preclude attending an online training course ?

Fair point

Does that mean when a dcpc trainer goes to a company to deliver a course that company must be an approved training centre?

I have to admit the wording above would suggest this is the case - but other areas of the guide to periodic training go on about training centres using other premises for delivering the training. So I would say no they don’t need to be an approved centre … a training centre can deliver training anywhere that is suitable and listed as one of their venues along with risk assessments etc all filed away in advance of the place being used.

Also - I believe the DSA have been looking at the possibilities of some DCPC being delivered via online/computer. This would be along the lines of the current driving theory test or CSCS where it would be in an authorised centre with some expensive IT in place. I am sure it would involve very strict ID checks and camers etc. Not quite sitting at home on the iPad. I can’t remember where I read this now …
