used to be,but with all these firms going bust there ending up taking on some right dicks, see ing the standard of driving of some of the clowns arriving i can understand why all these firms have gone bust, but in saying that the driver trainers should take some of the blame as instead of feeling sorry for these useless zb because there unemployed and giving them a chance[job],they need to be hard on them and tell them we have standards and youll obviously not achieve them,so go away and apply for joe bloggs cowboy company where your skills will be of much better use. . in saying that this accident has all the traits of a typical agency driver.
Facts and evidence to back up this claim please? Oh wait, you have none, so STFU.
yeah agreed!!!
i’m an agency driver,i’ve driver hit a bridge, stolen anything,i frequently leave the cab in a better condition than when i got in it.i take a pride in what i do & do it well, that’s why i work direct for local companies & also get asked back by other firms i work for thru the agency.
i’ve gone round with 15’ 11’’ trailers all over south yorkshire & not hit anything & ther’e plenty of low bridges around r/ham area!!
not only agency drivers hit bridges,i was in stobarts leeds depot last december when a regular driver came in with a brand new schmitz cargo bull 13’ 3’’ trailer that he’d ■■■■■■■ under a bridge,he looked pretty worried when taken in the office to explain himself
to many people relying on sat nav & just setting off to where there going & letting these machines dictate their route.

I can understand that you find the Stobart knocking a bit boring, but no need to knock those who work for smaller companies, plenty of them are highly professional drivers who take a great deal of pride in thier job, which may be a bit more complicated than getting 26 pallets from point A to B.
The same goes with agency drivers, just because they turn up at your place on agency it doesn’t mean they have just passed thier test or can’t get a proper job, many may just prefer the work, many may have so many years experience and skills they would make your average Stobart driver look like they’ve just passed thier test.
Saying that the entire haulage industry from the biggest to the smallest, does seem to have plenty of muppets who should really be allowed to control anything bigger than a wheel barrow.

and not having the ability to remember the highway code, or read for that matter dont forget, the average truck hating joe public desnt see this as agency/homebase/stobarts
JLS Driver SOS:
I drove around with a 16’ trailer for years and I never hit anything, mind you I tried to a couple of times to get rid of the thing, ever tried doing general haulage with one of those things.
Try dropping it in the road, re connect the airlines chaining and towing it through and under a 15’ bridge, imagine getting away with that nowadays.
If you drop the front of a 16’ trailer by a foot, then shirley by the law of physics the rear must raise to more than 16’
NOPE try it
I am still trying to get my head around this. If a 16 feet trailer goes under a 15 foot bridge, it isn’t a 16’ trailer or a 15’ bridge

your right wheel nut our old yard you would drop the air on the front and the back so as not to knock the roof and when did rob change his name to billy
Unless the bridge is marked up wrongly, the height of the trailer is the height it will go under an obstruction without letting the air out out of the tyres
We have measured this one, dozens of times and the bloke who hit it has gone under it dozens of times, this particular morning it had shrunk

it was a 15’ 9" bridge but who is splitting hairs, just outside Dalry, coming out didn’t have to drop at all as I was carrying 24 tons Bricks, amazing what 24 tons will do to a 16 footer.
A guy I was running with years ago asked, very plaintively, over the CB “why do they always put bridges over double bends?” It took me hours to explain that the road has to bend to get under the bridge…
