Actros i drive plays a healthy volume on cd mode but seems to struggle when i plug in the tablet,so am wondering about putting the tablet through a headphone amp i got online,a kilimanjaro no less for a ton, works fine for enhancing my phones audio qualities but see no reason why the same magic can’t be enticed from the frankly over elaborate Actross sound system? Any pointers gratefully received.
1…plug it in…2 …try it…3 let us know if it works or not.or is there something im not understanding here
I think its something to do with European regs on headphone socket volumes. So it’s not the actros at fault it’s the device you’re plugging in.
Well this is what I was told a few years ago at the Apple Store, they said if I had an American iPhone the volume would be higher when jacked into a car/truck using 3.5mm socket.
I’ve found the same with my DAF Euro6. If I play my phone through an FM transmitter it’s louder than if I use the built in 3.5mm aux socket. Not too much difference but people still complained about my loud music
Have you tried the volumn on the tablet. Have the same thing with my phone. It comes up on screen with a warning about loud music then lets you overide it an turn it up.

This. The volume control on your phone or tablet also works when you’re using bluetooth as well as the headphone jack for those who connect to play music through the truck stereo with bluetooth. Most stereos using the aux plug or bluetooth connections will want you to have the volume of the device turned right up.
Also on Android you’ve not just one volume control but four. When you turn up the volume with the control you’re actually only turning up the master volume. You’ll see a volume icon with a drop down arrow on the right. Press that and you’ll see you can set the volume for ringtone, notifications and media playback as well. It could be that you’ve the master volume at full but the media playback is at say half.
If it’s not solvable through software, it may well be an impedance issue!
Which in simple terms is a mismatch of the expected resistances of the 2 bits of equipment, and the only way to overcome this would be to introduce an amplifier between them.
thanks chaps, pretty much covered all bases there but i will have a dabble with the amp,all levels are on max but the volume on actros is not enough to compete with external road noise with any finesse.
Have a look through the head unit menu to see if it has a gain setting, it may need turning up.
i bought these for £4-50…bluetooth for the phone as well as being able to make your ears bleed if you wish…plus they dont fall off when your messing around working.

plus 1 upmanship from the standard limpers flashing single one…
The logical way i guess is to wear wireless cans, ideally bose cans, but not sure if it’s legit legal wise, although i would imagine the eyesight more than compensates for aural loss tbh.
