One for rog extended rest

First week one day off 24hrs
Second week one day off 24hrs
Third week i thought i could compensate and take 3 days offs but was told today that this is only for bus drivers

so basically new rule for me is 24 one week 45 the following week then 24 etc etc

is this correct or am what i saying makes sense

In any two consecutive ‘fixed’ weeks a driver must take a minimum of one regular weekly rest and one reduced weekly rest. So you need one rest of at least 45 hours in any two weeks. It’s not a new rule, it’s been in place for years now.

Thats always been my understanding. However some here promote to back to back weekly rests, can’t see it myself.

The bit about bus drivers is nonsense. They either come under EU regs exactly the same as us or they are on domestic regs which are totally different as they’re not required to have 45 off, just 24 and no need to pay back.

Well sort of. International coach drivers on a single tour can use the “12 day rule” if they meet certain conditions.

It can be possible to do a one-off where it looks like 2 reduced weekly rests have been done for 2 consecutive fixed weeks but it cannot be done on a regular basis as you seem to suggest

PCV rules can be a little different

So it is possibleas long as not done regulary

This is one example of how it might be done … but every weekly rest needs to include sunday midnight so it can be used EITHER for the fixed week ending OR the fixed week starting

Take at least 69 hours off (90+ would be better) and use the last 45 hours off as the regular weekly rest for the fixed week starting which we will call week 1
Week 1 - start mon morning and finish sat evening = that has a regular weekly rest using the 45 hours as described above
Sun off = reduced weekly rest (A)
week 2 - start mon morning and finish sat evening
sun off = reduced weekly rest (B)
week 3 - start mon morning and finish fri evening
sat + sun off = regular weekly rest for week 3

Week 1 weekly regular rest is at the start of week 1
week 3 weekly regular rest is at the end of week 3
That leaves either (A) or (B) as the reduced weekly rest for week 2 with the unused one not needing to be compensated for but needed to prevent more than 144 hours being done between weekly rests

That only works if the driver had a regular weekly rest period for the week prior to the week in which the 69 hour rest period began.
