So is it possible that there is a new pay structure for people until they have proved themselves?
Which would account for why both sides of the argument are so convinced they are right?

love to get on fly by nite booksLittle bit of advice about Fly By Nite… £70 per day for 3 months rising to £80 per day if the truck is accident free & paperwork is filled in correctly on top of that there’s night out money…
Feel free to PM if you require more information, but £80 per day, 13/15 hours a day or 21 hours if you are double driving.
So to reiterate, £6.15 per hour for a 13 hour day or £3.80 for a 21 hour day double driving…This is the wage i was offered. Was told £10 night out money in London also.
Work also seemed to be very ad-hoc. Might be a good lifestyle choice if you live with your parents, not if you have a mortgage.
Was told there is little to no work in winter also. Can’t believe that people are saying that this bloke lies about the wage.
Thankyou!
I only wondered how you downloaded your digi card whilst away for weeks at a time
I applied 18 months ago…no contact from them yet…
.
People love sledding of others wages on here. I don’t understand it. Why be so interested in others pay? For what it’s worth I think the problem is people get to hung up on the basic daily rate. The only figure in interested in is what goes into my bank each Friday.

One pay structure , what people like sweettruck haul and others on this thread haven’t factored in is Per Diem’s . Frankly I cant get my head around the fact that I work here , you dont , yet claim to know all about them !!
I am now going to withdraw from this thread and go to the pub , in Rome , and spend all of my 70 quid .
For your information Shade I’ve been in this industry alot longer than you, 11 years to be exact & in my first post regarding wages I think you’ll find that I did state the correct wage per day plus night out money (or per diems) if you choose the latter, in fact 2 members have just verified it…
Enjoy your beer…
BTW is your company still insisting that you load & tip off the card and when you are on a 45 hour break are you still travelling passenger in the truck■■?
I could go on…

Nick, to answer your question, on a multi-truck tour the lead-driver will carry a downloader. On a single-truck tour, the company
will get a downloader to you somehow or other, but usually via a double-driver.
The company are actually very strict on this.
As for comments about wages, and I’ve tried to resist getting involved, the figures quoted by FBN were the absolute minimum that you can expect. I don’t want to give exact figures, but lets just say, as Shade has tried to, that it can be considerably more.
I’ve been in the industry for 22years, and believe me, I wouldn’t still be doing it if the money was crap.
It probably comes down to the individual’s own ability that will dictate the earning ability.

OK. In my experience, and I’ve worked for FBN for over 4years, they’ve never once asked or told me to tip or load off-card.
Everyone assumes that it goes on, but those opinions tend to be held by ill-informed people. You may even find there’s an element
of “boasting” by “rock-god drivers” involved!
If the job is planned correctly, there’s no need to resort to rule-breaking.
As I’ve said previously, the individuals own ability will dictate their earning ability. It may also indicate their suitability for employment.

Ok
I know loading/tipping off card goes on because it’s in black & white in your drivers manual ‘FACT’
I also know that when you are on a 45 hour break, you travel in the passenger seat ‘FACT’
This is irrespective of the individuals ability or suitability!

Are you honestly saying that this company are stupid enough to have an illegal procedure written down as company policy? I’m afraid you’ve lost all credibility with that one.

Don’t know what manual you’ve been reading, but it certainly doesn’t say anything like that in the one I have.
When I get chance, i’ll scan and post pictures of the rail tickets I used for a recent journey undertaken whilst on a break.

If the train journey was taking you to or from your vehicle/work you may have been committing an offence. A journey to or from your vehicle (if parked somewhere other than your home or usual base) has to be recorded as other work or POA, and I would imagine that applies to all vehicles regardless of how far away they are.
To answer the op. We have a downloader built into the trucks which downloads every 24hrs or more if you press the download button. It’s connected to the tachograph.

I take it that sends it via wifi or sat link like the tracker to base ?

Yes, we ensure that we still have the 45 whilst including the travel as other work.
Exhibition vehicles exempt from EU Law are vehicles where the exhibition is ‘fitted’ to the vehicle, same as a library in a mobile library and not vehicles delivering an exhibition that’s in packing cases etc. You still come UK Domestic rules anyway, log book, 11hr shift max on driving days.
