Would I be correct in thinking that we could substitute the words “a rival” in place of “another”.
There may be a clue there

Yeah, you could say they’re a rival company. Their hierarchy are always creating trouble for us lot. I knew it didn’t sound right, but I wanted to check before I ‘bump into him again’ tomorrow.

I have to say that I don’t drive buses but it’s almost unimaginable that it would be illegal to wear a hi viz whilst driving.
Why are bus companies so bitter with one another, from what I’ve heard, it used to be like a war around here at one time, with buses from different companies cutting each other up to get to the next stop first, it’s calmed down now though.

I’m only doing this for the time being, I need a permanent income while I look for LGV work.
There’s at least four companies all working the same patch round here, it’s absolutely mental. Everyone is praying for a ‘fast bus’ to get them ahead of everyone else. Every manouvre is made 100 times more difficult because another company’s bus will be deliberately parked in the way.
The new tactic seems to be to park across as many bays as you can, at the steepest angle you can so nothing can get past while you take 20 minutes to get 4 OAP’s on. This gives your supervisor time to check out the rivals buses and give them grief about having dirt on there tail lights or have a go at one of them for wearing his hi-viz.
Staying on the buses? ■■■■■■■■ to that!!!
I work for FirstGroup and our Engineering Director has a go at me every time he sees me driving with my Hi-Viz waistcoat on, he says it is only to be used when walking around the depot or in case of a breakdown and that when we are wearing them the customers cannot see our nice expensive uniforms (not!). Then we get staff notices telling us we should be wearing them when we are walking between our relief points and the canteen for our breaks. Most of us say bo…s to having to keep taking them on and off all the time and leave them on. If it was illegal to be wearing them when driving I’m sure the said Engineering Director would have had great pleasure in informing me of the fact. Our supervisors have been known to wear them when they have to get behind the wheel also, as we have great pleasure in telling them when they tell us not to wear them when driving.
I have been told on numerous occasions that it is a legal requirement in France and Spain to have a hi viz jacket draped over the passenger seat
Because I rebel against mmtmm or stupid laws I keep it well hidden in a locker.
When MAN, Renault and Volvo start fitting hi-viz seats I may change my mind
