Once more, with feeling! [PASS!]

Heya guys.

So once again it’s come around. My test is booked and due in two weeks today at 10am and I’m just wondering… any advice? This is probably the only shot I’ll get at taking a test again for the next six months, so here’s hoping it goes well, eh?

PREPERATION

you know from previous training what to expect , start by driving like your driving a lorry now and then will have all the small things in hand like mirrors , both hands on steering wheel , approach juncs with a view to not having to stop , ie see the red light slow down way before so you can just roll through as it changes ,
will you have any training before your test or are you just taking test ?

all the best for 2 weeks time and heres to a good start to the new year

Moreover just be calm and pay attention to the job in hand, try and crack a joke with the examiner although some are right granite faced… Get in the zone straight away and just have a nice, smooth drive,if you make a mistake just forget it and get back on track quickly, when i sat my test you were allowed 15 minors,i`m guessing now thats more than halved …the biggest thing as always is the mirrors, always hot on that…be seen to be doing all visuals. All in all good luck, its all about how you feel on the day,if you feel confident you will breeze!! All the best

As far as I’m aware it’s still fifteen minors with no more than three per category and zero serious marks.

Relax.

A little bit of nerves can be helpful, but if you’re a shaking wreck you’re going to make mistakes. Don’t place to much emphasis on it being a test, treat it as just another drive with your instructor. Try to strike up a bit of conversation or banter with the examiner, this will make it less formal and settle your nerves no end.

Good luck!

Well, back to it for a day tomorrow! Hoping that I haven’t forgotten anything important in the nine weeks off! Red means go, right? :stuck_out_tongue:

Camomile tea will help relax you and a cup of Horlicks will settle the nerves at bed time, an early night may help too, best of luck.

all the best for your retest

Well I went back today and it was LOADS better. Felt confident at the wheel, few issues with traffic, control, mirrors. Considering it’s been over 10 weeks since I last sat in the cab I’d say that’s pretty good! There were a few niggling little issues at junctions which basically boiled down to ‘assume everyone around you is an idiot, wait, and act only when you’re sure you know what they’re doing.’ So altogether? I think I’m ready for tomorrow morning!

Passed!

Three itty bitty minors!
Now for half a yorkie!

Congratulations

Well done.

Excellent news well done!

Well done! Its such a good feeling when they say this magic words isn’t it

What were your minors for? I got 3 minors too, 2 for moving off and one for planning and awareness.

Thanks guys. It feels good to finally get over this ■■■■ hurdle.

One minor for approaching a set of traffic lights, I hesitated too much while it was on green and so as I started to accelerate past them they turned amber and I had to brake quite abruptly. Suicidal pedestrians I couldn’t take the risk blowing past.
The second was about thirty feet later, just barely clipping the kerb with one of the back wheels, the examiner looked back and went ‘You just kissed that, ignore it, carry on.’ Possibly because he remembered me completely nailing one the last time around.
And the last was for taking a turn too wide and going too far out of my lane for too long. And that’s it! A huge improvement from almost propelling the poor sod out of the cab at a red light!

Now I just have to wait for the digi card, cpc and the license to come back and I can start ringing up jobs etc.

congratulations matey and what do mean 1/2 a yorkie go mad have a whole one

Great stuff. 3 minors is a great score.

Feet up and relax.
