On the road in the Middle East

Last week I flew to Oman, to spend a week with an old friend who I used to work with. I used to be an events manager for Sky TV before I got promoted to being a truck driver.

Mostly I just laid about by the pool in the sun drinking beer at £8 a pint but I did find time to drive to Dubai, a city I have always wanted to see. I took a few photos on the way. They may be of interest to the old Middle East boys although I imagine it has changed out of all recognition in the last 30 years.

Lulu Roundabout, Sohar.

It cost £8 to fill the tank of my hire car.

Up in the mountains on the way to Dubai.

The Oman- United Arab Emirates border.

Then a run across the desert…

…

A truckstop in UAE.

Shops and stuff.

The approach to Dubai.

Well, that’s it for now, but I’m going back in October. Any complaints about the way in which these photographs were taken should be addressed to ā€œThe Police, Muscat, Omanā€.
