On the right road :)

Had my first assessment this morning, first time I have ever sat in a truck, which was a 51 plate DAF CF, 4 over 4 gear box. Was an hour long, trainer drove out to a local area with a mix of town, single and dual carriage way roads and had me drive back. Gear box was interesting to say the least, remember what gear your in I think will be 99% of the problem when it comes to shifting smoothly. My anticipation of things further ahead seemed good and I was able to get around corners and junctions just fine. I think I did fairly well considering. Got another assessment next friday with a different trainer and then a final one in may before I make a decision on which is the one for me.

Either way I now know for sure that a trucking career is what I want to do. 15 years of sat on my backside fixing computers is well and truely over!

Really pleased for you , sounds like you done well , all those little problems will be ironed out in training , that’s what its there for

Best feeling in the world when you see a truck drive by and think I can drive that

good luck and look forward to the diary of your training :sunglasses:

Gears look daunting from the first go but by the time you are through the second day of training you should have them pretty much sussed.

Best of luck
