On the limiter in a 40

pay the fine but say you’ve lost your license, no license = no points!

Ah this old crap again.

If a Court has notified DVLA of an endorsement and the licence was not submitted DVLA will update the record and write to the driver asking for the licence (1st letter). The letter states that their licence will be revoked in 28 days if they do not contact the Agency. If, after 28 days, DVLA has not received the licence, DVLA will write to the driver revoking their entitlement to drive for non-compliance (2nd letter). The record will be updated to show that their licence to drive has expired.

So if you say you’ve lost your license and don’t produce one within 28 days of DVLA sending a letter asking for it then you’ll not be able to drive because your license will have been revoked and you’ll be driving illegally without a license.

So if you do have a licence, does it mean you haven’t if you say you haven’t?

I ask because I wonder if the logic works in reverse. That is, if you do not have a licence, you actually do if you say that you do

Two of ours got tickets for the roadworks between jct29 and jct 31 of m1 both got caught doing 56mph in the 50mph roadworks.

So they should… The 50mph limits on roadworks are strictly enforced nowadays to protect the road crews. Professional drivers are aware of that fact (or should be).

Having said that, I still think the 40mph speed limit for trucks belongs in a bygone age, where you literally had to stand on the brakes of the old Albions and Scammels.

Agreed - and I think this each time I get overtaken by a fully occupied bus who is legally doing 50.

So did I, but now that I am paid by the hour… I don’t! :bulb:
However I still see others that do sit on the limiter when they are also paid the same, risking their licences for no extra :unamused: , and question their intelligence.

If you keep on getting done for speeding
you may have too drop the N from your
username.

That surprises me.I go through them roadworks on the limiter every night and have never being done for it.Were they doing 56 or have they overspeeded down the hills which may put their average speed above 56mph.

A driver at our place got done for averaging 57mph through M1 roadworks when they were at junction 32.

it wasn’t a fixed camera it was the safety camera van man you know the ones the placed in laybys at at end of long straight round slight bends etc never near schools or villages with 30 limit but am just bitter and twisted :smiling_imp: :frowning:

It means that if you say you don’t have a paper counterpart to your license or don’t hand one over to the Police or the court to have points put on it then if you don’t send it in within 28 days of DVLA requesting it they revoke your license and you definitely do not have one even if you do then pull it out of your arse because its been revoked and you are driving without a license no matter what bit of paper you hold in your hand.

Well no [zb], my sarcasm is lost on the interwebs

Its not sarcasm. If it had come from anyone else I would have thought it wss but coming from someone who doesn’t even know if its legal to drive a wagon without a tax disc in…

They both said 56 but they are both numptys who fly everywhere so it wouldnt suprise me if they let em go.

When I started driving first I thought the a41 was known as the wire because leaving Holyhead all you’d hear was going down on the wire.

Never seen a Camera Van on the A69 before. You sure it wasn’t a tax ANPR etc van?

Man up cupcake, you were doing the speed so take the hefty fine & multiple points. You know it makes sense.

Didn’t you realise that speed limits exist on ALL roads all the time :unamused: not just near schools or round corners  or just near fixed cameras :unamused:

+1

Don’t forget your cup of tea with the Traffic Commissioner too. 40% over the speed limit? Ouch. :open_mouth:

Also, you better start saving for when your car insurance is due for renewal. Ouch.

One of ours reckoned he got Flashed on the A15 a couple of weeks ago, doing 56 in a 40, we’re still waiting for the letter.
I’ll let you know if there’s Tears in his Eyes next week !

Yep, he showed me the Xmas Card today, 53 in a 40, so we’ll see what his Xmas Prezzie is going to be ? :unamused:
