TNCSI, heres one for you.
Your on break, truck needs to be moved 10 ft to allow a van to leave premisies, if a forkie was to push it 10 ft, would tacho record it?

Yes because the wheels move. Now if the forkie picked it up and moved it…
If it’s s newish truck (post 2012 I think) you should be able to just move it forward put it back on break straight away and it won’t interrupt the break by recording driving.

^^^^This in a Volvo, quite often get a break in a que.
Move—put back on break—wait a minute–move–put back on break—. Repeat.
Or better yet don’t take your break while your blocking people in.
■■■■■■ me off when I get to deliveries and I have to wait for some retarded driver who put his truck on break but got tipped early yet still wont move.

There’s a reply to those who do that
Couple weeks back, pulled in to collect 26plts, very small yard, there’s a rigid in middle of yard, ask driver to move round so I can get loaded, “no I’m on break”
“Your blocking the yard”
“Don’t care”
Have a chat with forkie,
“No problems drive, will load you there” the upside is rigid driver can’t get out for 1hr and half… O wasn’t he annoyed, so his half hour break was a bit longer,
Known in the trade as a ‘dodgy’, where as long as your less than 30 seconds switching back to break will resume your break uninterrupted.
However your V+ Profiles thingymajig on your Tacho will record the movement.
See also dodgy 3hr (a box jockey favourite), dodgy night out (you go home), dodgy 3 sum (aka devils 3 sum usually 2 blokes and a lady, not a problem for the ladies so I hear)…

And…serves the ■■■■ right! Too many snowflakes who panic over the tiniest little thing. No harm done by moving and then going back on break. The jobsworth’s of this world…

True they can tell and are cracking down on it apparently .
The Volvo FH we had (65plate) you could move 10ft used to be it recorded what was “most of a minute” if you moved for 25 seconds and stopped for the other 35 seconds it recorded you didn’t move, rather handy that sometimes lol.
Yes your on break but move 10ft? If it did flag up just tell em why simple enough really plenty enough crap to,put up with in a days worth without worrying about moving 10ft.
Can’t see what the fuss is about. If you have to move roll foward put it back.on break asap… tends to not notice. You have moved. If you only had a couple mins left just explain and sure he would be fine. Just think if roles were reversed you was blocked in driver said no having my break come back.in half an hour
As said, the tacho might still record the lot as break, but fairly recently the dvsa software picks up the movement, so they know you’ve not had a break, therefore don’t whinge if you get busted for driving 7, 8 hours etc without a break. Not worth it
Seems a bit over the top to punish a driver for a move that was needed to allow access to somewhere ? Can’t you make a note in the records to cover such actions ?
You need elogs and get rid of tachos, I was taking a 2 hour nap one morning and was awoken by a DOT cop knocking on my door, he needed the space I was in for roadside testing etc, he asked me to move half a mile down the road and I told him the situation, "Don’t worry, just don’t exceed 2 miles and make a note in the remarks section.

I agree, forkie told me to park there, I asked if he was sure, ‘yep, van not going out today’.

Indiana Jack says he can move during a break as long as he doesn’t exceed 4 mph. That right, Pat?
