Omex tankers.

Anyone had experience of running a tanker for Omex doing liquid fertiliser? A lot of bulk tipper lads seem to drop onto this in Lincolnshire and Yorkshire when it comes quiet on the grain side. I presume it’s traction only using their tanks but just curious as to how the jobs are priced, I.e ppm or radius? Any info gratefully received

Cheers
Matt.

Anybody?

looks like you ought to give em a ring (omex) or just hover around and hijack one of the subbies…

I know a couple of people on the Yara liquid fert job which is run by P+S Simpson. If you don’t have your own tanker you rent one off them. I tried to get on it last year but it’s dead man’s shoes really, the impression I get is that it’s a really good job and so new people only get on to it if one of the existing people pack in.

i’ve seen a few tankers (don’t know which firms) parked up next to fields with the sprayer filling up from the tanker. i drive a sprayer but we don’t use liquid fert so i don’t know what rates it goes on at, but it usually takes me 1.5 hours to get rid of 3’000L of fungicide / pesticides etc. just something to bear in mind / ask about.

Cheers Paul. There’s a few in our area doing it and whilst I’m doing ok at the moment I can see the grain job going downhill between now and harvest. Plus with the crops looking so poor for the harvest you never know what may be round the corner!!

the job comes on every year at this time, its liquid fert before the crops go in
lasts 3-4 weeks and job done
