Olympics traffic problems

It’s here like it or not do if you want to ■■■■■ about it do it elsewhere.
Well the restrictions here in east London have started to kick in thismorning before the Olympic lanes go live on Wednesday. My first job most days is to tip at whalebone lane at Romford. Leave the tip at about 7 40 and am back in to hackney at about 8 15. This morning 9 15. I called the office to let them know and was told everyone is reporting similar delays and just get back as soon as you can.
Spoke to the office when I got back asked about the customers and was told had a few moans but everyone seems pretty understanding. In the build up customers were spoke to about night working but none were interested. Just wondered who else has work in London and how prepared are your company and customers.

my mate left stockley park near heathrow at 6 this morning for barking still wernt there at 9.15

Just taken my driver two&half hours from Purfleet to B’Wall tunnel he said it’s chaos,A13, Aspen Way,Limehouse Link etc solid traffic,no customers were intrested in night work maybe due to construction sites being noisey the local councils would not allow it!,some of the asphalt tipper boys have parked up for a month due to suspension of road works in the London area, the Crossrail sites have told us they are working though!,the torch relay was around Deptford, did extra traffic go north of the river intending to use R’hithe tnl ,Tower or S’wark bridges to come south?

I drove down from Peterborough this morning to Lewisham, I was expecting the worst but it only took 3 hours, got a bit delayed on the A12 but apart from that it was ok… Hopefully we won’t be doing a great deal while the games are on…

This is a great time to be paid by the hour :stuck_out_tongue:
Even with tescos deliveries, there’s hardly any RSU about at the moment, and extra staff laid on at the stores to help turn wagons around. :grimacing:
You’ve just got the stuck in traffic to contend with, which shouldn’t be a problem in weather like this eyeing up all the crumpet, etc.

Seems to have settled down for now. Going to be a testing time but I suppouse for us involved in the construction side of things it sure helped in the last few years so we can’t realy complain.

Traffic is always ■■■■■ in London anyway - can only get worse though now…

Not to worry, i don’t get down there much!!!

Sympathies to those that do though…unless you’re on hourly in which case nice one!!!

I’ve just done a run from my yard in tottenham down to silvertown,it’s taken 2 and half hours. Normally looking a 45 mins max. Not too bothered though as I get paid the same regardless and I will still be heading home at 5.

we do smithfield at night, and i’ve been told for next 3 weeks our normal midnight delivery, will now be 10pm, suits me.
right, back to the garden for more sun :grimacing:

It’s terrible, down the road they’ve fiddled with the timings on the traffic lights, the only thing this has managed to do is cause lines of traffic up to the lights and then allow a few at a time to continue down the road. Why do the athletes need their own lanes anyway? There’s more of us then them, they’re so fit they can walk!

Although, some of the eye candy walking down the street ain’t half bad

Yep it’s a pain you just gotta use the back streets but then even some of them are blocked it’s because they have changed the traffic lights thats causing all the problems they should of left them normal :smiling_imp:

Had to collect from the reservoir at Chingford today coming from the M25 turning right by the Shell garage was taking forever, finally the penny dropped they’ve disabled the right turn filter to allow traffic to flow better towards the White water centre at Waltham Abbey.

On the a12,they have re phased the lights coming in at gants hill holding it all back took around am hour from whalebone lane to there.

got to tip steel at high st ilford for 7.30 - 8.00 in the morning via dartford tube, could be fun!

13 was back to the 25 by about 7am this morning.

I’m dreading this I have to go from Colchester to Brimsdown then to Billingsgate market then on to Fenchurch street both Wednesday and Friday.

Bad news then, you get there on Thursday and be late.

On the plus side you’ll be early for Friday.

We’ve been doing 10mm shingle to London Concrete at Hornsea (God knows why they want our stuff) and it’s not too bad apparently.
I could be going back on the road soon, just hope if I don’t get my Foden back I get another Foden so I avoid London…

If I was coming to whalebone lane from your yard I know this is a long route round but I think I would go up 406 to woodford then come back Down to Charlie brown round about Up chigwell road then all the way along manor road and right onto Romford road up to whalebone lane You won’t get much if any traffic going that way also if your running to tml tip you cut across collier row saves having to do u turn or try and get past the school

Why dont they just give Oyster cards to the “important people”
Olympic lanes my ringpiece.
