Oldest working truck

lankyphil:
Depends what you mean by working (as in still for a haulage company?), because I saw a Scammell Explorer hauling a traction engine on a flatbed about 6 months ago on the A13 near Basildon…

i was thinking of working everyday and earning someone a living

Quite often see this Frederal running u and down the M1

Amazingly, the oldest surviving CX19 is in fact the only one which is still working, albeit as a truck. It is the chassis and cab of a 1938 CX19GW,
It is still running as a bulk wheat carrier after 43 years in South Wales town of Narromine. The bus body is still on the farm propped up between two trees

DC Thompsons (newspapers) at Dundee run their own fleet of old erf’s for delivery’s in Scotland and some of them are old “g” and “e” plate’s too i think.

Sold the G reg’s last month. Still have a couple of R reg EC6s though…

My boss drives an F plate Merc 4 wheeler tipper. He has owned her from brand new and driven nearly every one of her miles himself. She is still worked most days doing tar, aggregates and the occasional muckshift. He is happy to leave the newer ‘big boys/girls toys’ to the rest of us!

is that richard doran ? theres a ford d series curtainsider down in the penzance area think its old f reg , delivers fruit & veg

Yes

Regularly see a grey 1983 A plate Volvo trundling over the Pennines.

Unfortunately always seems to be on the opposite carriageway.

Stan

This is not UK, but I think it’s worth mention

This one was hired to play in that movie, but it’s just an every day working truck. My friends are living nearby and I spoke with them few months ago, they say it’s still working.

The guy said he drives it for last 20 years and he just want to keep it going for another year or so until he’ll retire.

I think it’s Star 25, model from early 60’s…

Have to say had a pleasure of driving one of them (there is still few fire engines working around Poland in community fire brigades, as they get old vehicles from State Fire Service) and altough it was interesting experience, I would rather not like to drive 50 years old truck on a daily basis

I saw Moodies Transports (mapledurham) Y reg Leyland Constructor 8wheeler yesterday (Log carrier)

My boss still uses F88 " R " reg from the 70’s. Just been fefurbished. Nice!

is that the blue and red LCS one i see pulling 40 foot containers near exeter?

That’s the one…She’s lovely. They just spent £12000 refurbing the cab. It’s spotless inside.

Saw a seddon Atkinson 401 b reg pulling a low loader with forklifts on the other week

Somebody mentioned Scammell highwayman, there are still three of those running steel out of a yard near Tinsley (J34 M1)

Muckaway:
There’s a red/white Borderer with a tag axle fitted that’s based in East Anglia; run by a farmer I think…

That will be Terry Godbolds much modified Atkinson, HER806N. Widely recognised as one of the fastest lorries on the road! Terry did retire it and moved onto a more modern DAF. It didn’t last and the DAF was sold and the Atki brought back out of retirement.

Terry also owned another famous Atkinson - KSC999N, a 240 Gardner engined Atkinson which is now owned by Stobarts.

Hello, heres a couple which I took last month, both southbound M5 near Gordano services
