Oldest truck you have driven this year?

Suedehead:

Garbo2018:
A 58-plate Scania curtainsider with a knackered semi-auto that squeals everytime it changes up or down the 'box, doors that won’t latch properly, an interior that I could only describe as a mobile council tip, missing seals at the bottoms of the doors, dents on every panel. I could go on and on.

Perhaps you should look after it a bit better :bulb:

It was already in that state before I drove it. Defected it for the above, but they couldn’t care less.

A 1981 Peterbilt 8x6 heavy haul tractor with Cometto extender six axle trailer from Bilbao back to near Eindhoven complete with concrete beam ruining at about 90 tonnes ( and she pulled like a train!!)

1995 Daf 85 (I think or maybe 75) - Absolutely hate it.

Where I work they have a few 7.5t Isuzu ‘Easy shift’ things 2008-2012 (some of you might have seen them LWC shotboxes) and they really REALLY are horrific to drive, I went over a bump in the road once while turning a right hand bend and it bounced me over to the curb, the semi auto gearbox doesnt work fully in one, goes up the gears in semi auto but doesn’t go down so you have to switch to auto and it’ll go from 2nd to 3rd at the wrong time then come to a stop on a hill, had many cars beep at me as they don’t understand whats going on (I can understand)

I chose to work one less day a week and be up at 2/3am two days a week just to avoid driving them, sadly I still drive one on a sunday but I can live with it one day a week.

Those Isuzu things are junk. Seen quite a few just dumped in the yard as they got sick of throwing money at it.

52 plate Scania rigid wise, 55 plate Actros unit wise.

Both look tatty but to be fair they still drive well enough

Boss just bought a “new” unit a 02 plate AXOR to replace a 52 plate Renault Premium that he is considerind streching to a 6 wheel rigid

My daily drive is a 54 reg cf. but the oldest was a w reg Volvo rigid with a genny on.
Ps the job pays half decent and never a dull day.

A 2001 eurocargo. I went for a job with a bed company in dewsbury.
Had the interview and the job seemed okay… Saw the wagon and it was a 2001 iveco eurocargo with a massive overhang… Covered in dents and scratches etc etc… I declined the job, got in my car and went home… I technically never drove the thing though

1971 Bedford Tk artic-only in the yard though

12 plate Volvo we also have 63 plate Volvos but allegedly we’re getting new ones at the end of the year but time will tell, the trouble is our lot are hell bent on getting gas trucks but there isn’t much about on the market presently.

My 2016 Volvo.

my usual 99 reg tipper

17 plate scania p410, the manual box is a bag of ■■■■■■

R reg lifting body Dennis. An absolute heap, the jacks keep slipping down out of stowed position.
