Of all the standard, non sophisticated malts,I still prefer a 10 year old Macallan.Had plenty in Auld Reekie over Xmas and never got tired of it.

As one who has never tasted whisky all these names mean nothing, but I bet a bottle of whatever they are called ain’t cheap. But good luck to you if you enjoy it.
Cheers Dave.

Dave you are quite correct a decent malt is not cheap but if you buy them around Christmas and fathers day there is usually some good offers on and save around ÂŁ10 a bottle so you stock up then and it is quite reasonable and cheaper than on the continent or duty free.
cheers Johnnie

Dave, these prices seem a lot for us poor tipper men. :frowning: I guess that I will stick with my once a year bottle of ‘supermarket special’ and leave all the exotic stuff to the tax exiles and folk in the stockbroker belt in the North East.

Pete.

From what I have seen around the supermarkets at Christmas a bottle of whiskey ranged from £17 up to about £28 for a bottle.I expect there is cheaper and also much dearer. The only time I have bought whisky is for a whisky roll competition at Country & Western dances which I used to organise. The person that got the coin nearest to the bottle usually won the bottle…usually Bells.
Cheers Dave.

Evening,IOM tax exile here.
Well,I’m only a poor ex general/tanker/retail distribution/shunter,so if I can be a tax exile any bugger can. I’ll sup any whisky, don’t go for fancy malts, far too expensive for me and anyroad my dodgy neet out money is fast running out.
