hiya,
Have followed your instruction’s to the letter Dave I have been described as being a bit servile so obviously deemed to doing as I’m told, I have also dropped a splash in my morning cuppa as well, again for medicinal reasons hic hic.

As I sit in Fishers hotel Pakefield I am full of joy, one because I have got all my sky channels on my laptop and do not miss all my sport, two because I have been out and had a very good chinese meal, ordered a bottle of wine, which I had about three teaspoonful, and my wife & daughter drank the rest, they are almost as bad as you whisky addicts. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Harry how many candles has one to be burning to be concidered old on this forum ? & how much single malt has one to consume to be a veteran whisky drinker ? I dont know the answer to this do you ? Cheers Larry.

hiya,
Well Larry really don’t know the answer to that one the Missus put twenty one candles on my last Victoria sponge and told me to “dream on” I don’t have the answer to the quantity of Scotch required to qualify for veteranship but I find sufficient to make me fall down usually does for me, looking forwards to buying you a tipple of decent stuff on Saturday you’ll have to wear a name “tag” so’s I don’t waste my money on some young buck who’s still earning a crust, you’ll easily spot me I’m the one who looks 95 and knackered, see you at the “do”.
thanks harry long retired.

Larry, just look around for a chap who looks like a older type of ( Benny Hill )   and that will be Harry.   As for being a expert in the art of drinking whisky, Harry is not so far from the top of the tree,   and from what I have heard,   you are only a branch below. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Well its no good me trying to deny it, I have allways liked whiskey, they say it keeps the blood thin & the mind sharp,I dont know if this is true but I shall just continue to sip away at my single Malts, in decent size measures of course. Cheers Larry ,or when Ive had a few whiskys I get called Lorenzo when I get up to boogy on a Sat. night.

Larry the day is nearly dawning on the whisky drinking contest in Newcastle, I do not know who will win, you or Harry,   but at least the profits will help the working mens club which can’t be bad!

Hi Matt,I had an S/A 400 on an “S” plate when I worked for Glass Glover,it had the 240 Patricroft and 9-speed Fuller - arse about face change - but I thought it was a good tool, better than the Scania 81s we had (the wagons Harry likes) .My motor finished up trunking out of our Newbridge depot in 1980 ish.Haircut excused by the way  .

The oil company i worked for (globe petroleum) sold out to conoco.I was offered this job driving trunk from denny to aberdeen ,I left falkirk in an old leyland buffalo, having been used to petrol tankers this was a new experience. Arrived at bridge of don, Here was this brand new seddon atkinson and newly painted trailer, Gearbox went from right to left but never had any problems with this lorry (■■■■■■■ engine) only problem was freezing up in the cold winters in the 70s .this was a scottish road services lorry ,another firm long gone. The reason i left was we started to run to,liverpool ,leicster, london, pick up at taungton then back to denny , i did not like the nights out so i went back to fuel tanks ,but the s/a was a great lorry to drive.cheers matt.

Matt don’t get old Harry going, specially when he has finished his whisky contest with Larry, he is of the opion if don’t spend time wearing gloves and sheeting and roping, us tanker & tautliners are more like chauffeurs! :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:      :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

Watch out Norm,Harry is back from the Geordie do ready to take on all comers  .
Cheers Dave.

Nice to hear of two retired lorry drivers having a good night out.
Cheers Dave.

Harry & Larry, you sound like a good double act. Sorry I wasn’t able to make it yesterday but I couldn’t get out of a family party without a divorce. I can tell you enjoyed your encounter with Harry, Larry, see it does have a ring to it!!! I hope you both took plenty of sawdust to soak up the oil spilt. Ps I will definitely be at the next one. regards kevmac47

Sorry I missed it was intending on going but things went a bit pear shaped here so wasnt able to  as I may have had to join you 2 for a wee dram :stuck_out_tongue: but hopefully next time as long as I can be the rose between tow thorns
