Hi Ang - see Harries page for my reply, but chin up Lass - that’s the spirit. I’m not the oldest (65), never had any wisdom, and wit rhymns with what “SHE” reckons I’m full of. Jim.

So sad to here the little lad of 2 passed away early this morning heart goes out to my mate & her family no words ■■■

R.I.P. little feller. Go get your wings and watch over us.

Hiya,
Oh’ dear Ang it’s one thing after another for you at the moment and the poor
little fellah’ at least he hadn’t got to a stage in his short life where he knew
what life was about and his folks will be able to take a little comfort from
that it would have been much harder had the little guy got to an age when
he was making friends and had to be told or not he had something terminal
and he wouldn’t be able to come out to play, life can be cruel, but why kids ?
it just isn’t right and makes me wonder sometimes is there really a God.
thanks harry, long retired.

Terrible when a very young child pass away. Its one of the things that make me doubt all the religion.
RIP little man.

Dave.

Sorry to hear that my dear, there are just no words I can say that are suitable. At least the little lad is out of the pain and suffering now and his parents can grieve. It’s terrible in the extreme to lose a child, I know, the pain and grief never goes away.

Happy Christmas to all the wise members, and lets have plenty of wit in 2016.
Cheers Dave.

Wit and wisdom require for 2016. :bulb:

Happy New Year.

Hiya,
Two peanuts walking along Piccadilly one was assaulted.

Fred answers the phone and a voice on the other end says, “Hello, is that seven, seven, double seven, seven, double seven?” Fred says, " yes." Then the voice says, “Well, can you dial 999 for me? I have my finger stuck in the number 7.” :unamused:

Seeing that it’s a new year I am sure that we all feel that we need to start doing a bit more exercise so try this.

EXERCISE FOR OLDER LORRY DRIVERS.

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.
With a 5-lb potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can.
Try to reach a full minute, and then relax. Each day you’ll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer.
After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato sacks. Then try 50-lb potato sacks and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more
than a full minute. (I’m at this level.)

After you feel confident at this level, put a potato in each of the sacks.

a perfect justification for this thread mushroomman , just the kind of advice and encouragement that we older ex drivers need . i just need to get past stage one , holding my arms out . happy new year in the colonies , dave

I’m feeling a bit smug about this exercising business… I exercise non stop, all day, hell, I must blink my eyes hundreds of times an hour, I regularly carry 2 pints of beer (at the same time) from the bar, I can jog to the fridge unaided, how much more exercise does a man need. :grimacing:

hi all I think I may be the oldest member born 1933 now 82 still doing a bit driving round the county collecting /delivering new cars/4x4s on trailer one or two times a week when wanted love driving since 1952 got to keep going while you can all the best to all you truckers johnboydor

Well it’s about time you packed in and joined us “men of leisure” full time. This retirement is the best career move I ever made, yes, it does have one or two drawbacks, you find you have to talk to the wife a lot more…and the malt whisky eats the pension up quite quickly…but they are a small price to pay …

I officially retired at Christmas and my O.A pension has almost doubled the money I was getting as a carer before I retired, less tax of course! :open_mouth: Problem now is—what do I spend it on? I don’t drink or smoke, the car only gets fuelled about every three months, we have no family so I can see why retired folk say that they have problems spending the cash, yet when they were younger there was never enough to last the month? Strange old world, when you are too old to enjoy it you have loads of money, when you are young with a mortgage etc you have none! :unamused: Another pension rise due in April, even more problems for me then.

Pete.

Council Tax and Water Rates usually go up just before the increase Pete, also due to all the claims insurance premiums will increase. Welcome
the word of the OAP.
Cheers Dave.
