I’m two thirds of the way through reading Dennis Skinner’s book. This bloke is branded a red and all sorts of things, but he talks more sense than nearly all the modern day politicians put together, from all political parties.
Cheers Dave.

Hiya,
Dave, is Dennis’s book readily available and could you tell me the title I’ll be visiting the “Toon”
(Newcastle) when I go for my cancer check-up having to abandon the last one due to shingles,I
have to pass a Waterstones as part of my walking to the hospital route which is in a couple of
weeks time due to re-scheduling my original appointment.
thanks harry, long retired.

Sailing Close to the Wind: Reminiscences (Hardback)
by Dennis Skinner. Buy it off Amazon Harry, and save yourself some money.
Cheers Dave.

Hiya,
Dave it won’t be long now before our youngest daughter starts to ask what we would like for
Christmas, now she is an “Amazon” fan so it might just solve her “what to get for Dad for
Xmas” problem and it would be a useful and used for a change and not stuck in a drawer and
eventually being gifted to a charity shop, be something to read during the long dark Winter
months, I’m a one chapter a day person a read and digest type, otherwise known as boring.
thanks harry, long retired.

I still haven’t finished the book yet Harry, but it is a very interesting book, and as you can imagine, he doesn’t pull any punches.
Cheers Dave.

I am unable to understand some of the modern day sayings like politically correct can someone please explain to me how anything which is POLITICALLY can be correct,it as to be a contradiction to being CORRECT the spin may have me baffled but the politicians don’t as they are unable to give you the correct time of day :unamused:

cheers Johnnie

Talking about politicians, I see that they’re on the front pages of the papers today saying that it’s disgusting that the bankers haven’t been prosecuted and sent to prison.

Errrrr. Pot, kettle?

70% of the politicians should have been sent to prison for fraud and perjury. Half of the rest of them couldn’t lie in bed straight, the bent barstewards.

Cheers Dave.

Well a fellow asked me to-day what does a pollitition & a babys nappie have in common, Of course I couldn’t answer him as I have lead a very sheltered life, But Im sure he meant that they are both full of ■■■■■■ Regards Larry.

You had better get used to more canvassing next year Dave, when the general election is due.
Cheers Dave.

Hello lads, I am on my tablet, it took me a while to get on Trucknet, the stupid pad was using my email address instead of my users name. My laptop has been behaving weird it tell me it cannot get explorer and keeps buffering. But I have had no time to play, another one of my bowling mates is in a bad way, he will be 92 next July. He was a director on Charlie Butts a well known transport firm in Northampton. Tell that John West fellow I love his Wild Red Salmon in tins.

Hi Norm,
Good to see you back in action. I have just had to buy a new computer. My old one was Windows XP which isn’t supported anymore, so I’ve bought a new one with Windows 7 on it. I don’t like Windows 8 which is on my laptop. I use the desktop most of the time. My fingers weren’t built for laptops.

A mate of mine has got an old curtainside trailer of C Butts in his yard which he uses for storage. Always sad to see a mate suffering, whatever their age.

Cheers Dave.

I got back on my laptop to order a upto date TV, it took a while, I went on Argus but it kept on freezing up on the site, I didn’t see what I wanted , so I moved to Amazon, got one comming on Saturday. I then went to Trucknet and logged in and it’s been ok. I know Harry would have hit it with a hammer by now and two seconds later in the dustbin.

It’s no fun fighting that bear to bring you the salmon Norman!

I remember as a kid being called ‘middle cut’ by older folk, followed by a huge peal of laughter. Completely over my head.

My parents insisted they hadn’t made the connection.

John.

Don’t you fret John, Middle cut is the best cut of th whole salmon, so stand proud when ever mentioned again.

Psst Norm, Do you want some cheap chickens ? I know where there are a few frozen one’s which could be reduced.
Cheers Dave.

Its approaching the season of wise men etc. We can’t have this thread down on page three.
Cheers Dave.

Hiya
Yes Dave I’d noticed this cracking thread was dropping down the other day and intended
posting a little something to revive it somewhat but I moved to look at something else I
forgot, hence “wit and wisdom” slipped further into oblivion my Missus reckons I have the
memory span of a goldfish, but there are certainly more than three wise men on here
who will be adding several wittisism’s over the coming Yuletide which doesn’t interest me
in the slightest I hasten to add, Bah Humbug.
thanks harry, long retired.

how about starting a bah humbug club harry . i’m of the same opinion as you where the " festive season " is concerned . we pensioners don’t even look forward to a few days off like we used to and there is nowt to do at xmas that we can’t do any time we like . been shopping for cards today ( under protest ) , nearly 30 quid just for cards , i can think of better things to spend 30 quid on . i did buy a nice little trinket for the staff though , got me a few brownie points . who shouted creep ? when we were younger we had a fortnight every xmas in the camper van in scotland , but alas time has caught up with us and we can’t handle the cold any more . i think i’ll hang a do not disturb sign on the door instead . happy humbug , dave . ps all the very best to you and your wife / boss .

You should have taken them to Bob’s, it was only 1/10d for a bacon sanger and a mug of tea last time I went in there in 1964.
