Hiya,
Larry just been thinking this single malt whisky is a marvellous invention,
Just one very large double and you start to feel single again.
thanks harry, long retired.
Harry if I hit the firewater I would be single again! Jim.
now there’s a thought. By the way 64 last month. No age, No wit and no wisdom but I do have a little feel now and again.

You are still breathing Jim, so you will reach some more age, and gain more wit and wisdom, and if you are feeling …well, you are OK.
Cheers Dave.
Can’t have this thread languishing on page 3. Is there no more wit and wisdom left
Cheers Dave.

Hiya,
There must be loads of it Dave, could it be that all the natural wits are taking
their holidays all at the same time, or because we’re all so old that we need a
spell of time out to gather our thoughts, my memory is so bad I can start to do
a bit of something to post and I only need distracting for a second and I forget
what I’m rambling on about and it usually finishes up as something which I’ve
spoken about in a previous post, now where was I.

Not sure about any wit or wisdom but at 70 I am planning to a bit of casual driving after a break of a year or two, as I had to renew my licence on last birthday I thought what the heck I’ll get the HGV/LGV entitlement restored so, all being well, will be doing a Turkish trip next month. Mad or what!

Hiya,
Blimey “Mr Jake”, I disposed of the Class 1 at age 65, put the renewal notice through
the shredder, when last ordinary licence became due I forfeited my 7.5 entitlement
so I could renew my car only licence on the computer, some of us older hands could
chuck it completely some couldn’t I don’t miss it one bit and certainly wouldn’t want
to be a lorry driver nowadays what with all the rules and regs and oh’ so slow, but I
hope you enjoy your return to the workplace good luck mate, I’ll just settle for the
quiet life driving the armchair and doing my bit on here.

be thankful you live in a bungalow harry , at least you don’t have to climb the stairs before you realise you’ve forgotten what you went up for .i’m in the same boat as you , when i was told my heart was bad i sent the license to swansea and got my car license back . when i hit 70 it was easier to ditch the 7.5 ton thing and just renew the car license . i was already getting fed up with the job before i finished , blokes half my age trying to run the job and thinking they knew best , and lorries that shut down just because a light came on the dash . i intend to see out my declining years as a lazy , "rich " pensioner . cheers , dave .
I did have all the licences, not now, ditched the lot except my car licence. I’ve no desire to go back driving lorries or buses, especially with things as they are these days, I’ve now got a new, wonderful career…retirement I’ve done my bit, what time I have left is mine.

Hiya,
No “Riggers”, where did the " bungy" come from you must be thinking about our gardening
chum Norman no less yes I do have a flight of stairs to get me to the loo or to my pit and
yes twixt launching pad and first floor the memory failure kicks in and yes I do return to
ground level unable to remember why I went upstairs in the first place and in 9 out of 10
cases it was to visit the loo so necessitating a return trip before I need to change my
underwear, speed is usually of the essence in such cases.

get a downstairs loo installed harry , at least if you forget where you’re going you can have a pee while you think about it . we were always grumping about the stairs when we visited our son and his family , lo and behold they now have a downstairs loo . you two are getting no younger and it is an investment for the future was his reasoning , cheers , dave

Hiya,
The whole area of our “drum” is only the size of a decent sized loo, could always
install a bucket in the conservatory but it does get a bit warm in there.

Best thing I did was have this built in 1975. With two bogs.
Cheers Dave.
What’s that sturdy looking post on the path Dave . Could it be where Tracey tethers you when you are getting under her feet ?

There is an Antron 99 CB home-base antenna on the top of it Dave. It doesn’t get used much these days.
Cheers Dave.
As per a couple of posts back have reactivated the HGV/LGV but the main reason was to continue the seven and half tonne licence to continue driving the horse lorry for swmba and as it’s the same medical and eye test as for the class 1 it seemed churlish not to. Regarding the Turkish trip, as I am in Bulgaria at the moment it is not such an international trek (and no driver CPC needed here yet)
