hiya,
Do you think the wife will manage this one sheās ā ā ā ā poor reversing.
thanks harry, long retired.
Hope she reverses faster than bumperās turtle Harry.
Cheers Dave.
hiya,
Dave, she doesnāt like me calling her āten shunt Lilā.
thanks harry, long retired.
You obviously like to flirt with danger Harry.
Cheers Dave.
hiya,
Yes Dave, live dangerously and fast but at age 77 left it too late to croak young,
I think I remember a song with words along those lines, but I aint singing it.
thanks harry, long retired.
76 trombones + one Harry, you are heading for the next number on the front, keep breathing old mate.
Cheers Dave.
hiya,
Dave I prefer 77 sunset strip Iām not very musical, we had a residential mobile
home a few years back but when I was undergoing the chemotherapy and I
was under the weather it wasnāt getting used being quite a drive to Glasson Dock
so had to sell it (for nothing) you pay plenty for them but virtually have to give
them away when āget ridā time approaches, it carried the site no 77 so it was
always referred to as Sunset Strip we did have some great breaks away in it but
a very expensive thing just to leave standing empty, and not being allowed to
sublet they become a bottomless pit, still got my little touring caravan though
which I will be using quite a bit over the next few weeks, if I can still reverse it.
thanks harry, long retired.

I expect you will have no problem reversing your car and caravan Harry. A mate of mine had a mobile home down at Wisemans Bridge a few years back, trouble is you have to sell to the site owner for peanuts when you want to get rid, just as you said. Another mate of mine ( HGV driver ) who has got health issues along with his wife has bought a camper, and is getting a lot of use and enjoyment out of it. If either of them donāt feel 100% he can pull over and have a nap until they feel OK again.
Cheers Dave.

Ten shunt Lil? You should see mine in action, I donāt know what youād call her. She can NOT reverse the car into my garage (ALWAYS reverse in, drive out
) I was out of action for a while after Iād had my knee done, she was in the chairā¦sheās been driving over 50 years, she can light the turbos up when itās going forward but she canāt reverse. My garage is in our back yard, she tried AND she shunted so many times she managed to get the Jaguar turned round a full 360 degrees, and it was still nowhere near the garage. I donāt know how the hell she managed it, I wouldnāt even attempt to pull a stroke like that.
Mentioning caravans, turn the sound up and have a look at this:-

hiya,
With you there Brian I couldnāt get shut of my HGV fast enough, and I do
believe Iām a far better crumpet watcher than I ever was a driver, ohā I
can also have a skinful in the evening without fear of getting hit with a
big fine cosā Iām still oerā the knot next morning, couldnāt care less about
losing the licence itās the fine I hate paying extra cosā Iāve enjoyed mesen.

Well, I decided when I got to 65 that as long as i kept passing the medical, I would carry on driving, I tried retirement and couldnāt hack it.

hiya,
Would never knock anybody who wanted to carry on working after retirement age,
but for me if I could have gone out to grass at 45 with a living pension I would have
been first on the bus, strangely enough I am still fit enough to pass the medical for
my class1 but I wonāt be applying, even though the roping and sheeting are long gone
I wonāt be exchanging my cardie for a hi-viz vest any day soon ohā and the thought of
swapping my comfy trainers for a pair of steelies, perish the thought.
thanks harry, long retired.

Two of my neighbours, one each side of me are still working past retirement age. A lot of tipper drivers in this area are well past 65 and are still driving full time, some more are doing relief driving. I think some people look forward to retirement, while others donāt know what to do with their time.
Cheers Dave.
As I said to Kev last week, retire and you can do what you want when you want.
OK, I accept that some fellas want to stay in harness, but me, no, what time there is left is mine, Iāve done a fair stint and Iāve no desire to go back, especially with todays conditions (rules, regs. traffic problems etc) Itās got dramatically worse since I finished.

If i may ask Grumps , what do you do with your time now??

hiya,
Howay Rocky 7 just flip back a few posts and itās all there, he does what
all retired drivers do, he sits in the pub and ogles pretty ladies and if I
lived near him there would be at least two of us at it, come to think of
it when I was on the road and travelling through built up areas I seem to
remember I was a bit of an ogler even then so I do it now to keep myself
a-breast of things a true leg-end you might say.
thanks harry, long retired.

Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Dave, was in Durham City centre the other day (travelled in by bus) so was
able to avail myself of the services of a hostelry with a few tables on the
footpath and over the hour was able to ābird watchā to my hearts content
much better than the quick glance that was your limit from the cab of a
speeding juggernaut, I was able to just about mentally remove the clothes
of one or two who happened to stop for a chat nearby, got to admit they
was the tastiest couple of pints Iāve ever tasted, this type of therapy would
be an asset to us oldies if the beer was provided via the NHS, the price of
the beer is the drawback.
thanks harry, long retired.
