Dave, you are a bundle of joy,   Oh I forgot to tell you,   it’s only going to rain in Wales, so get your snorkling gear out, I think you said you cannot swim! :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Quite right Norm can’t swim.Didn’t really interest me to be honest.I like going to the coast and spending time by the sea and especially looking at boats and ships. As for the swimming I never went in the sea after the age of 14,and their were no swimming pools near here in those days.I preferred to be outdoors with a shotgun or in a lorry with my dad or another driver.
Cheers Dave.

Dave, I think you was a little confused when you was young,   It was only a saying when you went with your dad on the lorry, to ride shotgun, means to ride in the passenger seat, :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:    not take a real one out with you! :astonished: :astonished: :astonished:

My dad worked for a firm driving a stagecoach Norm.Had to carry the shotgun to guard the stage.
Seriously as a country boy I had 410 shotgun and a 12 bore shotgun both legal and I had a shotgun licence. All I have now is a Diana air pistol which would only do damage if you threw it at something.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
When I was in the forces I was shown in basic training how to fire a rifle, I was rubbish couldn’t hit the proverbial barn door with the muzzle resting on the woodwork, the small arm I was allocated as a driver was a sten Gun not the most reliable thing a relic from world war two and it was once said cost two bob to manufacture but useful only being a couple of foot long it would sit on your knee when tootling along plus easy to grab and poke through the window in an emergency twisting a rifle about in the cab would have been difficult, the sten gun was notorious for firing the odd round out of where it was supposed to eject the spent catridge cases, this was as a result of failing to eject a shell case and the next bullet having no way out came out of where only the cartridge cases where supposed to go usually injuring the operative and knackering the gun.

As a member of the REME shooting team, we practice with pistol, sten gun, rifle ( 303) bren gun, I loved my rifle, & bren gun, I could have had the belgium Fn rifle, but never got on with it, for it was in the habit of clipping my glasses after I shot with it,I hit the targets ok , but then ended up with a cracked lense! :astonished: :astonished: :astonished: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Hi Harry,
Guns are a dangerous bit of kit if they are not made properly and used with caution.I could hit most things with a rifle and didn’t miss much with a shotgun.Nowadays I wouldn’t shoot anything.I was into shooting as my dad was a good shot and won a few clay pigeon shoots when he could afford to have a go.I didn’t try clay pigeon shooting as my gun wasn’t that modern. These days shooting in the countryside isn’t as expensive as in my day.

The local squire this way used to go banana’s if he thought any of us owned a gun.He thought we would shoot his pheasants. He was to poor to rear any pheasants and lived in the past with his estate mortgaged to the hilt.
Those were the days.
Cheers Dave.

My dad was good at archery when i was a kid did try it ended up with a nice bruise on my arm wish he had kept up with it & I had done some more

He also did some shooting in the RAF when he was in but they wouldnt give him his wings as he was part of the medical team he only went on the course to make numbers up & he came out top

Hi Ang,
I did a bit of archery as rehab when I was in hospital after my accident years ago.I lived to far away from the place to continue dong it.I enjoyed having a go at it and it certainly helped me get the strength back in my arms pulling a 40lb bow.
Cheers Dave.

The thing is I used to hole the bow loft handed as found it easier although most people were right handed

I think you can get different bows for people that are left handed.Seems strange, but I think that is true.
The bow that I used belonged to the OT department and had piece on the side instead of a hole.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
Dave I’ve got a set of left handed domino’s.

Bloody hell Harry, you are talking posh peoples card games.Never played bridge, crossed a few in my time.Only serious card game I played was seven card brag at work on the building sites at meal time.Have seen some blokes playing three card brag and losing a lot of money.I never got involved with that.
I did enjoy playing whist as a kid at local whist drives.
Cheers Dave.
