what is the maximum age above which an HGV licence will not be renewed (or re-instated if allowed to lapse)?
Double the number of service areas and double the area of existing ones. Introduce road trains. Press for overtime rates (double time) in order to deter employers from demanding/expecting anti social hours. Negotiate with EU to facilitate labour mobility. Campaign to educate car drivers of the speed needed to carry the same destructive energy as an HGV. E=0.5MVV
For me 65 was was my last and final day of driving hgv kept my licence up for 12 just in case did`nt need it never bothered to renew.
After 65 ,if not before driving skills deteriorate, your only kidding yourself if you think your still as good as when you where 45/50.
At 65 your so used to being dealt “crap” from TM to MSA and others its time to get out or even sooner.
I don’t think there is one, as long as you keep passing the medicals you’re fine. I met an 82 year old driver last year, sure he only works occasionally, but he’s still out there doing it
They trialled them a few years ago. Abandoned it due to the number of cars cutting in.
Press for overtime rates (double time) in order to deter employers from demanding/expecting anti social hours.
No it won’t. It never did for the decade and a half I did before it came to an end with most companies.
Negotiate with EU to facilitate labour mobility.
So you want us to go back to getting paid nothing again? It’s labour mobility from the EU that ended the time and a half and double time you’re asking for and kept wages low for the last 15 years.
