The building is still there now but abandoned
you can still park up there now on the old lorry park

West of Cambridge at Hardwick just passed where A428 and A 1303 join

disgo:
Are you thinking of the one at Bythorne, between A14 and A45? Cannot think of the name of it now though,to long ago.

That’s the only place I could think off, but that was on the righthand side heading west.

mc thackeray:
I have driven past it a few times but cant remember where it was
its on the left hand side heading west towards the M6
Anyone remember its name and location please

mc thackeray:
no sadly that was not the one I was on about
the one Im talking about is more near Brampton way and the building is still there now
only been closed for about 5 years now

I cannot place that at all, Enyerprise to far away, Godmanchester what I always thought was called “truckers” was sold off and had RDC or the like built on it, the Irony :unamused:

Joey R:
If it,s the one with the strippers in it i think it was Wednesday,s . That would be on the A14 A12 split i think on the side down in a bit of a hole, heading towards M6, used a good night in the nineties, but i think it shut down year,s ago.

Are you thinking Boss Hogs at Capel, or was it Copdock, thought that closed down because the local council put an overnight parking restriction in that area, bloody moaning locals :unamused:

The A428 and 1303 only meet at one piont was to the left of roundabout but as someone has already said its been built on now

I don’t remember boss Higgs ever having overnite parking . Not sure it was down to council as Mr Ingram used use it as an operating center for loadwells and later for his truck and trailer sales bussines.the cafe went into decline in the mid 80s when the new road went in and took away its passing car and coach trade.

I don’t remember a truckstop at either of the a12 A14 splits

The whole lot could of been bulldozed when they duelled the A428 a few years ago.

I remember there being a notice on the wall inside the café saying that there was no overnight parking allowed, to the effect that the district council had put a stop to it, so may be previous parking excempt operator center parking had been done illegaly. I just remember thinking that was bloody typical from a local council, that would have been one point in the 90’s

I missed spelled except, I meant to write, “so may be previous parking (except operator center parking) had been done illegally”.

without showing you a photo of it then I dont know!

I am thinking you might mean the Afton Café at Godmanchester, which was on the old A604 .

apart from that and the old sugar bowl I cant think of any other café truckstop on what is now the A14 and I think he ruled the one at Godmanchester out. cant think of any on what was the old 604 as it turned west at huntindon
