I’ve just seen this for the 1st time. At first I thought it was going to be another stab at truckers but it isn’t. I really like Clarkson as a person and in this he gives a pretty good summing up in the short time he has. Apart from the ‘we all want a Scania’ and ‘we don’t like mercs’ statements, the £1000 to get your license the only other thing which is way out is the fuel bill. £24000 per year ! When was this recorded 1970 ?

Tailgating and aggressive driving was far less common then that it is now but yes we have always had the clowns that do not see the danger till it is too late.
Nothing has changed it has just got a lot worse!

He uses the tailgaiting situation at the beginning to show a common percepetion of truckdrivers. At the end he says “I salute you”. He personally doesn’t have a go but uses the perception of truckers to lead on to how it appears from a truckers perspective.

I don’t think it is showing the common perception of truckers.I think it is the common perception of the general public of what truck drivers do on a regular basis that he is putting across.
Yes at the end he says “I salute you” because he is saying it is a poor paid job that is hard work and costs a lot of money for very little return.
Clarkson does not like trucks,does not like motorbikes but he loves cars.

Definatley made them. The FH16 520. I had one, and it happened to be a P plate
