Can often save the day…l
why is there a telephone holding the mirror?
No way Jose, that’s the direct line to Gotham city on the Batmobile .
Very reminiscent of the leyland freighter/ roadrunner with that stupid little mirror in the drivers side
That’s progress right there
Is that the MB offering if you choose to have traditional mirrors?

The 2d camera system has predictably gone tech to be replaced by a heath robinson compromise but at least it’s a working 3d mirror.Which is more than can be said for the camera even when it’s working.

Nope it’s deffo for when the camera system decides to stop working. With the bonus that it can be used as a grab handle to clean the windows.Vorsprung durch technik.
I wonder wether DVSA would say good job or just issue a prohibition
That’s not old school… there’s no piece of rag tied to it…

Not only that, but they were good enough for us old ■■■■■ when we were whippersnappers.

I dont see how they can tbh. Yeah its not the fitted instrument but it does its job and is secure.
Its almost like the original concept of mirrors was fine in the first instance and there was no need to go down the route of cameras

I agree it does the job & would get you home, but the regulations state that a wide angle mirror must be fitted along with a main mirror, so my
thoughts were would DVSA use common sense or just issue a prohibition.
I passed a merc a couple of weeks ago that had ‘normal’ standard full compliment of mirrors and cameras/screens as well! Left me a bit bewildered.

3D mirrors?
If you look in a normal mirror using both your eyes, your stereoscopic vision gives you a 3D view allowing you to accurately gauge distance (and speed) just as you do when looking straight at the object or vehicle in question. The image shown on a screen is 2D and cannot give you this information.
At least that’s what I assume CF was on about.

I had to move a trailer from Bay 4 to Bay 3. Use this new Merc. No mirrors. OK. Took about 13 shunts as I could not work it out.Only been driving artics for about 14 years.

If i tied a pair of my missus knickers to the mirror, they would cover the side window

Yup, in other words Mirrors aren’t 3D. It’s just another subject that gives him a hard on
