Old North East haulage companies (Part 1)

hi marcus 22
The Bobby Pickering you mentioned who drove for Elddis, do you know if he drove for Grady Hall previous to them.
there was a Bobby Pickering worked there shortly after passing his test iirc he drove an old leyland six wheel tipper with an LAD cab on.
regards
Mick

gurty: are you on bank’s low loader? i was talking to a gurteen that was on for cooler recycling today at work.

Are you riving this one Mr G.?

C901LNL? A little before my driveing days! Dont recognise where that is…Teesport maybe?? I used to do weekend work down there but never in an F7!! I used to have hundreds of pictures of the fleet but unfortunately my ex wife through them out

I think your right gurty as the wings and part of the doors are channel green and they were only on the B/C reg F7’s and because the number plate is high on the grill its got to be C901LNL possibly Tony Cooper driving it ■■ KG3

Or me

Go on then old Sidd, give me a clue ■■ there was 4x C reg F7’s all new when I started in the garage in 1985- Billy Cornish C898LNL, Derek Caterer C897LNL, Tony Cooper C901LNL but can’t remember who drove C896LNL ■■? Possibly little Joe with the glasses, but cant remember his last name !!! Moved off Y964 F7 8W ■■? KG3

To be honest I think it was after my time!. I drove TFT497Y which was an F10 down the road during the miners strike. I drove F7,s before that but mainly at West Chevington on the opencast, we also led out of Monkton to a site just along the road forget the name it was given . Was the Derek you refer to a “BIG” lad.We used to travel up to Chevington every morning in an old sherpa van I think it had a single cylinder lister in it!!! used to be pergatory but had a good laugh, lads I remember as I have a photo somewhere that keeps surfacing of us in the van were Topper , Sid little old Tony and others and Billy drove the van, his son had just started driving , happy days

Your right there Larry, Bobby Dixon was the Pallet pincher, (RIP). Dave Tillson (pic of him at the gathering) had the FAT1 plate in his windscreen.
