Joining in the celebrity car theme. Here’s a pic of John Lennon’s roller and George Harrison’s Mini Cooper!

Love the Roller, pity about the paint job Ray! I wonder if those two cars are still around?
Regards Kev.

I was invited to sit in the cab of this Muckles double deck cattle wagon when it was displayed at the 1961 Royal Show on Newcastle Town Moor. My mate and I was at the show bringing ■■■■■■■■ fell ponies in his 1950 Leyland Beaver.

. I think the date should have been 1961 when the wagon was brand new. :exclamation: :exclamation:

Sorry I was just messing. Slow day up here.

Off topic but prompted by your signature. I have a friend who takes on pups and trains them up to RNIB standard for use as guide dogs. A good few years ago he told me that part of the training consists of teaching the dog to return to its own garden to do the necessary. That must be trained as a general principle otherwise the dogs which had gone to work would keep returning to his garden. If the dog is away from home and cannot return to its personal toilet it must be trained to squat at the edge of the pavement so that the deposit is left in the gutter rather than where people would normally be walking.

Hi Kev, the roller is in a museum in DC Canada, it was bought by a Canadian millionaire for £2.3 million.
The mini I believe is in a museum in London. Brian Epstein bought each of The Beatles a mini and this is George’s. I’m a huge Beatles fan, unfortunately I never got to see them live but I’m going to see the Fab Four Tribute Band in Palm Springs this year. I did get to see Paul McCartney in Glasgow and at the MGM Grand in Vegas.

First two photos taken outside Pilgrim St.Fire Stn. It was one big photo but I had to split it to get it posted

Excellent photo’s Tyneside, the Fire Service one in particular I know well, the original is hanging on the wall at the TWFRS Headquarters in Washington. The first part of the photo shows the Tilling Stevens 85 ft Braun Turntable Ladder dating from 1922, there was also three other TS appliances, originally this and other vehicles in the photo had solid tyres which were replaced with pneumatics before WWII. Notice also the Ambulance which were also operated by the Fire Service for street accident casualties. Sadly the old Pilgrim St Station and offices are now pretty derelict although work is due to convert the building into an Hotel or some sort of accommodation. Franky.

Hi Franky
Bit of useless info but in the mid sixties my sister went to school with a girl who lived with her family in one of the flats above the station. I think her father was the Chief Fire Officer and IIRC her surname was Dodd or Dodds.

Thanks Ray, that Roller certainly demonstrates the meaning of psychedelia!!
Ps. I hope I’ve spelt the “p” word correctly.  Regards Kev.
