Cawthorn & Sinclair Fleet No.30, after sale to E.Robson (Gateshead) pictured with Fitter/Driver Ronnie Bright.

Hi Forster, Great photos, I worked with Ronnie at Smilers in the 60s, Then again at Shorties in 1970, He then went to work for Hornes Transport Bishop Aukland IIRC, Then he had a Garage on Shearlegs Road doing repairs, He was a great bloke to work with, Regards Larry.

Hi Lawrence, I didn’t mention (when I posted the picture of Ronnie Bright with the Ex. Cawthorns Atki,) that, as an apprentice fitter, I worked with him at Robson’s- and yes, he was a great bloke.A few years back, I asked after him with an old neighbour of his- she told me that Ronnie (Richard) had emigrated to Australia, where sadly, he later died. Our boss, Bill Robson, was good pals with Fred Short. I remember quite a few ā€˜comings and goings’ with drivers (and fitters) at Robson’s- people did seem to move from job to job in those days.
Regards Eric.

Yes Kev still 2 days away Wed back Thurs out of Prudhoe.

There’s a cracking thread on here that I think you’ll all be interested in the title is S. L. O. G. G it stands for send the lorries out of Gosforth and Gateshead. It’s an old 70s film I can’t do a link because I’m on my phone and I think the title means a lot of you will miss it.

Hi dazcapri, I remember people standing on Gosforth High making rude gestures to me when I was driving my Foden S 21 Tipper returning to Fisher Lane Garage which was my operating center in those days after tipping a load of stone in Jesmond for a builder, I wonder where they thought I would get there, After all it was the Main A 1 in those days    , Regards Larry.
