He,s a one to get you guys studying, who,s company is this? Parked at Berwick overnight. regards servo

I’m guessing the company’s owned by the young Douglass brothers. I think I once read they’d set up when their Dad & Uncle sold up and retired. I had to find another garage for my MoT when they packed in!

Although I may be wrong, as my missus tells me I usually am…

Douglas bros, were they in blue livery & run out of the Eastgate Blue Circle cement works? in the late 60,s & 70,s. regards servo88

They were certainly blue wagons, but I don’t know where they ran to. Their wagons were often seen at the Port of Blyth, although I saw more of them in their yard when I was a child. My first school was next to the yard, and I bought fuel etc from them right until they gave it all up. They had the only attended fuel pumps I could remember, up until probably the late 90’s. It was worth the extra few pence per litre when you received service like that.

I think one of the brothers still live in my Parent’s street.

Lots of people in the North Pennines from Alston, Nenthead, Allenheads, Rookhope etc travelled to work there. Now there is nothing in that area. All of the construction material companies, quarries are owned by foreigners.
