I`m great semi retired since last Sept, & I do simular to what you want 1 trip out of Prudhoe on a Wed not Ripon though, anywhere along the Bristol / London line or below back on Thurs keeps me out of mischief. Not sure whether you keep in touch with the Bolams they are both on for Nigel Rowe.

Hi all - my first posting so hello. Not sure if anyone will remember him but my granddad was a driver - Andy Sample of Embleton. Drove for Pringles at Christon Bank in the 50s/60s (along with his son/my uncle Brian Sample), and then went on to JW Robsons at Craster (late 60s/early 70s) before ending his days as the gateman at Embleton quarry. Sadly no pics of him with his trucks (mostly Albions), but I still have his quarry notebook from the early 70s where he jotted down the wagons which came in with stuff to tip. Hope this might jog some memories:

Old photo of Swan House being built, with a Commer van in the foreground and one of Cookies Leyland’s following, what a monstrosity that building was, a result of the ‘concrete era’ when Architecture went out the window, there is more glamour in the Leyland! Franky.
