Hello Kieth How you doing? remember us both applying to Holmans when they were in the process of biulding Nissan bloody lifetime ago.

Here are few photos of my good friend John Gornall’s motors from the late 70’s

John Gornalls Bedford KM 6x2 was a special modified when new by ■■■■■■■ at Darlington. They fitted a ■■■■■■■ 555 V8 for testing and was some machine!

Remember parking one night with Jeff Suddes when on for Gornals, he had one of the Fodens Day Cab. Had to laugh at his night Heater one of them catalytic things would have frightened the life out of me especialy after having a few.

Hi Greek, We had two of these heaters in our Leyland day cab Clydesdales, the certainly kept us warm but as you say they were scary things, I don’t think they would be legal nowadays, Regards Larry.

Was talking to a mate of mine the other day and he was telling me that when he worked at the DSS they got sent home early if it was snowing. I told him in 35 years of driving wagons I never got sent home cos the weather was too bad, just got told to get on with it. It’s still the same no doubt. No health and safety for wagon drivers then.

This was winter 2010, A1M just north of the 690 turn off, just left Washington on the way to Nottingham to do a changeover and everything at a stop. Oh well only another 140 miles to go.
