Great stuff Kev, That old weighbridge was only suitable for horses & cart or very small wagons It was an old firm called Henry Pooley that produced them them in the good old days most of the pit yards had them I remember going into New Moor stock yard at Ashington & having to double weigh with the old Foden 8 wheeler it was just a few inches too long, Keep the photos coming they are Brilliant, Regards Larry.

Mike Hodgsons first lorries at the time he worked in the office at Marley Tiles at Ebchester, as a young lad I accompanied his drivers at weekends and school holidays his first driver Harry Johnstone (the one in the white overalls) was the one I went with most of the time till he was joined by Mikes second driver Richard Keeler this was in the late 60’s early 70’s.They both worked for him for a long time Harry retired in the 80’s I think Richie went on to Gallachers when they took over Hodgson I saw him a few years ago he was telling me he fell off a trailer and had to give up driving as he seriously hurt his back ( greek might have the full tale as he was a Gallacher driver! ).
All the loading and unloading was done by hand quite often there was only me and Harry to unload at some destinations at first I could only manage two tiles at a time but eventually I was able to manage five at a time backbreaking work. regards prattman.
