Got talking to the old guy driving this last week, hed had it from new in 1976 and was still running on long haul work out here with it. Hed extended the sleeper with another cab for a bit more living space, it sounded lovely as i crept passsed him at 75 mph
wow i like that, if you see it again can you poss get some pics of the inside please i reckon it’ll be a long shot but i thought i’d ask.
flat to the mat:
She is nice, and with your penchant for cab-overs I’d imagine you almost ran out of Kleenex when you saw her ,but can you imagine running and living in a truck that’s 35 yrs old compared to the new stuff ?
Yes mate but the upside will be its paid for, looks good for its age.
regards dave.
It’s a great picture of the Locomotive, these were used mainly around Teeside when the intermodal 44 tonne came in. Denby ran one, as did Bulkhaul, Stiller and Isotank.
Aye, one thing tho i see the chris, the owner of the big top circus outfit hasnt let you loose with the paint bursh on that thing i see, or it be in the front line with the rest of the circus units you and bozo are building up
been a critic as i am i wouldnt have a mobile number on a old nail mobiles wasnt out then , unless its so you and bozo can get more bookings for the circus out fit

This one is a former W&J Riding unit - here it is when reasonably new:
It was converted into a ballast tractor for the Bell Bulk job. It ran at 65 tons and replaced an older Strato unit. (see below)
Posed shot, with one of the Riding road fleet peeping out of the next bay:

Hell yea,not only paid for it,but driven it from new 35 years ago,he must know that motor inside out and then some.
Huge admiration for him ,and a lucky guy to be driving a truck with character and something different to the rest

how about this one?!!! i woke up and thought i had woken up in 1998! my first thoughts was that it was a greek (or it was abandoned, but wheni parked up it wasnt there), then from the melee of the cab a coughing yorkshireman got up i bet vosa have not seen this truck for a while!
oh, it was in italy, not the uk!!
Love this! Proper working truck, no show shine or tat here
Reminds me when i was a kid when all trucks were dirty work horses
I see the Leyland quite often around Manchester. It was loading in Cemex at Dove holes when i took the pictures. Not a very good picture of the ERF. It pulls a scrap trailer. Ive seen it all over the place, it was parked in Sheffield when i took its picture. Its a really tidy motor.
