I heard he was wanting to sell that V8 Scania he’s got.
I just popped onto some interesting blog entry and found few links. In voluntary Fire Brigades in Poland you can still see some gems, that are sent there for retirement from the main Fire services, and still work when needed…
These are some nice Jelcz 300 series, manufactured between 1968 and late 80’s I guess…
You can see that they are used by amateur firemans, they went to fill it up with water and forgot to close the valve:
Some of Jelcz 300 are still working in state Fire Brigades where they aren’t used too often - for example this is water tanker:
Another popular Fire Engine in Voluntary Fire Brigades are Star 266 (the off road one) and other Star models:
(and as you can see, Tatras).
In General, seems that Voluntary Fire Brigades is a galore for fans of Eastern European trucks still in work. Here Soviet made Ural:
and Magirus Deutz
And now creme de la creme, Star 62. I had a pleasure of driving one of these, it’s from 60’s, petrol engine, crash gearbox, no PSA or any other luxures… It was a challenge
Still quite few of them works for voluntery fire brigades…
saw this yesterday while my wagon was getting a bit of work done to it - Hendersons have quite a few older FHs on the road still

0Todays Trip. Mid Northumberland to Burton on Trent and back with 14.5 tonnes on board. 640km. Proper Lorry. Good on fuel, great fun to drive. however I reckon the novelty would wear off after a few days. Dan
Saw you pull into Woodall at dinnertime, was going to take a pic when I came back out but you’d already gone!
Apologies for you missing your photo opportunity. just a quick stop to grab some food and back on the road. Dan

it’s a W reg 144, making it 13 years old - seemed fair enough for “old girl” status to me!
