Hello again Oily, Great, thanks for that, unfortunatley i have had no replies to a few e-mails so maybe i thought more of me than they did, Ha !!
I sold ERF trucks back then and the local service dealer was Wooton Trucks, great part of the world to work, happy days. Harvey

Hi Harvey, I remember Wootton Trucks way back when they were on ■■■■■■ Rd Wootton just along the road from John Werrell’s (Wekankarryit), one of the above pics. Wootton Trucks still going but now where the MG car plant used to be.
Cheers

Hi Mate, I got to know Brian quite well, nice chap.
After Weston Star took over ERF it changed so much and we all saw the writing on the wall with MAN sniffing arround so I moved on, sad I liked ERF.
Brian would have also had to move on as MAN would not have needed a service point in Abingdon.
Cheers, Harvey

Do Wootton trucks service any make of truck?

Just seen this! Very unusual to see older Michelin X tyres on a police car in the UK at that time. I wonder if they were replacements or had some far seeing buyer specified them?

Just found this tread regarding Dykes bro transport, I was in the Long Crendon yard shunting for Dykes, for around 3 and half yrs,
long time ago now, the units were canary yellow and light blue in livery ,Dykes mainly had Guy tractor units with Gardner 180, or ■■■■■■■■ 220
engines, I remember 1 lad an owner driver got himself a Scammell crusader with sleeper, had some gr8 guys driving for them, most were owner
driver, but had a few on the books, good days, till it all went ■■■■ up !

Can not rember firms name but drove for them early 70’s carrying precast concrete.Based in Risborough.I did a few trips to Liverpool think in an Atkinson.

Hi Chaps. Now this has got me back on posting, referring back to the start of this thread. Oily, now that Crendon Concrete sign is the colour of the wagons I remember seeing. I think it would have been late 70’s but the old memory is fading a bit, so not sure. jimbo56: I would be interested to know when you were on there, as I’m wondering if they had a change of livery, or if they ran some in Crendon colours. I made a model of the sort of thing I remember & will attach a pic. if I can remember how to do it.

Hello George, good to hear from you again and the model, nice one. the wagons I remember the Dykes Bros having were Guys, they also had trailers which subbies pulled doing Crendon Concrete work, my buddy Alan Long had his first venture into general with an Volvo F88 double drive hauling Dykes trailers mostly with bridge beams.

Couple of Oxford wagon pics.

Hi All,
Does anyone know R Oakey & Sons Ltd Carterton south industrial estate, supplied EC10 with L10 325 to Roy, a rearly nice man, son was Barry.
Also Peter Cook International just down the road from them, everything on the trucks (ERF) had to be white.
I covered the Oxford area for ERF for 5 years, loved the place but the demise of ERF made me re locate to IVECO till I retired, to Scotland, Harvey

This one just for you HRS don’t know if this was anything to do with you it was supplied by Meachers Southampton J94JTR as a seed motor??

Yes indeed Andrew, happy days eh !! After that came two EC motors with Drum blowing gear for the big sow tankers but they did not turn out well for them and they changed marks, poss Scania.
From memory I think I recomended the 14 litre engine and they went for the 10 litre and suffered due to fuel and the power. I could be wrong but that is how I remember it.
Thanks for the Pic, very thoughtfull of you. cheers, Harvey

Hi Hrs Cannons also trialed a Foden with same spec as J94JTR ie ■■■■■■■ 325 engine,Eaton twin splittter gearbox & Rockwell axles I think the Foden didn’t fair well compared to the erf so ended up with about 10 erf ec’s with blowers but none of these in my opinion were as good as the Volvo fl10’s we had doing same work.
Cheers Andrew
