Old Firms in Oxford Area

adr:
Not a very clear pic but just found it in another box, from my days on Leyland Transport, Cowley. Taken in our yard (BJ Henry’s old yard) early 80s!

you mite have known my uncle tony hulbert and my father in law michael crowley

bjf:
DONT YOU RECOGNISE HIM ? YOU HAVE MENTIONED HIM BEFORE ON HERE. WHEN YOU PASSED YOUR TEST HE LET YOU TAKE THE CLYDSDALE TO BICESTER FOR TEST, YOU WERE TOLD TO REMOVE THE FLAGS FROM WINDSCREEN. THIS WAS WHAT HE TOLD ME TO REPLY. I WORKED AT BRS WITH JAKEY AND HE HAS MADE A MENTION TO ME BEFORE.

Mick Freeman?

Hi pigpen, Tony Hulbert, absolutely remember Tony very well! & Michael Crowley, I know the name but can’t put a face to him at mo’ but I can Tony . Tony was a boy, he could shoe it along when needed  . Regards Chris

The Tony I knew on Cowley transport was a really nice bloke, he had “old thunder” painted on the front of his buffalo, same guy?

YEA. STILL DRIVING, WITH SKINNER ON SCHOOL BUS RUN AND OVER BUS MUSEUM. IN THE BLOOD.

Mine in the workshop on Thursday afternoon with a broken diff. :imp:
Credit to Dan though, new diff delivered Friday morning and all fixed by the afternoon ready for me to work Saturday.

if it didn’t have a name on the visor, it could be mistaken for a ex Hills of Swindon shed.

 That’s a new one, John. I’ve already been told it’s an ex Earthline one. Gotta love the workshop; 5 bays and 3 house an ERF EC Olympic, a Mammoth Major tanker and a Bedford O Type.
There’s even my uncles’ old Foden unit (ex Smiths) in the yard to make me feel at home

I’m sorry about that, I was going to ask but so many of the old boys on there that I knew have passed on or are of advancing years, it’s a difficult question! I found Tony a very easy-going bloke & certainly to me he was always very pleasant & approachable if I ever wanted to ask him anything!

Yes it is Toddy2. It’s being restored to look like one Cleavers’ ran in the late '90s.

That would look nice in Jakeys’ colours.

Fully restored, it would have cost him £9,500 at the end of November 2013. Somebody made a bit of a profit.
