Wonder who was the original owner of this Oxford City reg wagon?. Googling R A Forrester brings up a garage in Gainsborough.

Hi Oily, this pic had me diving into the photo box Pic of me next to my Dads Mammoth Minor Chinese 6 (pic taken in RAF Brize Norton in 1973 for infoā), Reg No LJO 987G, they had 2 on Home Counties Petroleum, Botley Road, I donāt know what the number of the other 1 was, it was driven by Roy Taylor. (Typical Dad picā this, always get in about 30% of the actual subject , greatest father I could ever have wished for, forgot more about wagon driving than Iāll ever know, but donāt let him near a camera )
Regards Chris
Chris, his camera focus had all of the subject he was interested in .

Muckaway:
Where on the Botley Road were they based, Chris? Near where Toys R Us is now? I vaguely remember some derelict buildings around there as a kid with an old garage between those houses that Maxwell owned.
Hi Nathan, Sort of when Toys R Us is yes, going towards Town you turned right down where the Army Surplus is now & you have the car/retail park on your right, this used to be Stephensonās Builders Yard, yellow wagons with black lettering, you went down the end of the road & turned left through a gate up the approach road to Percivals Coaches with their blue/claret caches parked either side all the way up, instead of carrying on into their yard you swung left into City Motors (Bedford) Truck yard/workshop, Home Counties/Mobil depot was over on the right, lovely little depot with 6 wagons (artics), 1 spare 24 ft single axle trailer (called Little Betsy), 7 drivers + 1 mechanic/driver, Depot Manager who was an ex Home Counties driver & 1 planner/order taker.
Regards Chris
Polo: Is it right Benniesā and Barton Plant have axed their own lorries? Have Bennies got any quarrying going on around Wroxton/Hornton? There used to be a big private railway system around there for the ironore industry.
Iāve done muckshifting from down there; Not a huge amount as some of the land is contaminated; Apparently, the land was raised with demolition waste in the '50s⦠Iād guess from the old slums in St Ebbesā¦loads of ābrickyā subsoil that we recycled.
adr:

Must be; Keep a lookout for Paul Innsā new 12plate Scania 8w; Well over Ā£100k. Wally Crossā old one must be 6 years old. Apparently a tipperās recommended to be replaced after 5-7 years due to the harsh environmentā¦Smiths do well then; We had 2 G regs until early 2005
Hello Andrew, That man must be salesman of the year getting Wally to buy a Scania unless he gave it to him. Nice to see heās still alive and kicking. Remember me to DG when you see him and tell him he owes me an email.
