The Tramway engine is preserved at Didcot Railway Centre in it’s Wantage Tramway Co no 5 livery. Steam Railway mag abandoned an appeal last year to return it to steam but I don’t know why. I would guess the boiler’s not been changed since the Tramway days, but Didcot did have a long term idea of recreating the tramway with no 5 and a replica coach plus horse drawn tram.
There’s still an old jet on display on a plinth at Grove, possibly DeHavilland Vampire? It’s got twin tails…Talking of planes being stuffed and mounted, when 47 Air Despatch Squadron officially moves to Brize Norton from Lyneham, they’re bringing their mascot, a Dakota used during Operation Market Garden (Bridge too far mission).
I wonder if Ameys got any hassle from the ghostly airman of Grove airfield? He/it used to be a bit of a celebrity around there.
Sure did , plenty of hassle in the Wootton area -his name was HANSON but not much of a celebrity in my opinion
All 4 of our Scania’s together, unusual because of shift patterns/nights out/double-shifting etc the only time they are usually parked up together is on a Saturday night. Some poser stood by his new 1 got in on the pic’

Suprised to hear that news about Bennie/Barton.
Especially as I had heard that there were some new ones on the way.
A local subbie told me today on cb after I noted the number of ex Barton plant 8wheelers around Oxford. Talking of which, McArdles’ old nails are getting very common around here too; I suppose seconded from their London depots thanks to the LEZ. McKennas’ drivers are waiting to hear whether they’re being kept on in the next few weeks or so…
Jakey; I did some Hoff spotting this afternoon on the A34 near the Botley war cemetery turn.
On a more sombre note, did anyone see that crash on the A420? BBC Oxford news showed it was a Medivet van and Oxford Mail said it hit a Daf lorry carrying metal sheets. Looked head on judging from the tv. Happened Buckland side of the Little Chef.
Hi Nathan , yes he was on local yesterday but he will be happy today as he has one drop in Wigan , then Manchester then Chester then Telford and return , easy life , he was not happy the other day as a bus has scratched the truck then he hit the n/s step and bumper doing £700 plus vat of damage in Wales , so he was a bit down last week .

If you wana see a beautifully restored wagon, go over to Wychwood brewery Witney, this lod Bedford is special . We got an Oxygen tank in there that I fill, they are a good bunch of blokes there so they’d probably just let you in for a look no worries. And they got a great shop there where you can get all their brews in packs , also T-shirts etc.

They’ve got a Bedford TK mobile bar aswell. My Dad worked for the now deceased firm of Fisher and Townsend (Builders of Hailey) and did some work in the Eagle Brewery now Wychwood after Clinchs were taken over by Courages.
ha ha , no this company give me partloads all over the uk which is dead handy , like today we have a truck going to Chester and they have items to go to Wigan , sale and telford and I asked if I could have them all , And I get good money for those jobs and they needed a driver and porter on there wagons for a few days , so I get paid again for that , only thing is I have to drive a dirty heap .
, so he was a bit down last week .
