Oh don’t tease me, who could possibly have wanted a Volvo F88 back then when you could have this!

Some more oldies.

The late Eddie Harrison refused to give up his F88, so much so Percy Prior had new drivers on new wagons. Roy Molloy was a fitter for Priors at Middle Barton; when they shut down he came on for Smiths and recently retired. He comes back 2 or 3 times a week to help out; a fantastic fitter, rebuilt the ■■■■■■■ motor in my first 6wheeler-better than new when it came back and never used oil.

The name Calcutt rings a bell; were they from the Hailey/Charlbury area as I’ve heard relatives mention the Calcutts…

For those who are interested, this is where I found the images; publicapps.oxfordshire.gov.uk/wp … s/heritage
Just type in anything you’re interested in…

I would love to have got my hands on this old Bristol & done her up, so many of these classic old motors went under the torch! As soon as you say the word Bristol you automatically think of BRS!

Someone might recognise a face!

At W-ton depot we were still using a few of those little scammell coupling trailers in the 80’s behind Leyland cheiftons to run mini subframes into Longbridge from Sankeys at Bilston. 2 mins to swap the trailers on the park and a 3hr wait to get the notes signed   Drank plenty of tea though!

We had the same Scammell trailers behind the Leylands on Transport Dept at B.L. Cowley, they spent all day pottering around the factory, line feeding from the stores etc.

How about this beauty , When I first started on Brs Oxford this had just been made in to a wrecker after being on general haulage for a few years , I remember it having white carpet in and the rear part of the passenger seat sawn off indicating it was used for overnights ,I drove it on wrecking duties and I know Chris (ADR ) remembers it as a wrecker , Its first name was the "BAZ MACHINE " after the usual driver Barry Freeman but after he left it was changed to " HAPPY ■■■■■■ " you can just make it out on the front radiator cover . It did have a 280 bhp rolls royce but later was changed to a 265 rolls royce .
Its still just about here.

Try again .

I certainly do remember her Steve, nice looking wagon in her day :sunglasses: Might have posted this pic before, not a great pic. but shows her at work up at Sandy Lane outside your workshop.
Regards Chris
P.S. WHITE CARPET■■? :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: Different :unamused:
