Was brushing my teeth this morning when I noticed an old mk electric light switch. I remember them as their hq and main factory was round the corner from me when I was a kid. A bit of googling revealed they have been part of honeywell for a few years now. So what companies do you remember that have disappeared?
Talking about electrical switches, how about Crabtree made light switches and plug sockets, had a factory in Walsall
Swan Hunter! I remember delivering welding rods to them in the 80’s but was running a tad late and at 4pm the road was flooded with a mass of humanity heading home. You literally could not drive the vehicle because of the sheer weight of numbers. All gone now of course, very sad.
I was on a ship built there in the 70’s. Yes very sad that it has all gone now, but not entirely surprising…
