Old Cafe's

It’s only when you see a film like that you realise how small the trucks were compared with today but a lot happier days that’s for sure ,even the ministry men were quite human ,not like these VOSA guys

Spot the illegal moves springs to mind. What a driver!

I breakfasted at “The Limes Café” last week, on the A614 at Bilsthorpe, quite a good place to eat.

I am really pleased to see this great little cafe is still in existence. Many years ago when I worked for Bulkliners we were often in there for lunch to or from Ollerton pit and depot.

Oy Rob, you will be taking Charlie Massey’s mantle away from him if you keep stopping at every watering hole on route! :open_mouth: What was his saying, “The truck needs fuel and so do I” but Boss Hogg didn’t quite see it like that haha! Not much profit to be made sat at a table old lad… Nice to see old established cafes being used though, never had time (or the money) myself of course.

Might catch up with you at Cromford.

Pete.

Is Kates’ Cabin still open? I stopped there about 12 months ago, just wondered if it was still going, incase I can’t get to my usual at Stibbington.

A bit further south (only a few hundred yards) it’s a chinese(?) restaurant or similar now,
if that’s the one I’m thinking of. Once used it around 1978

Is ‘Bridies’ near Bidford on Avon still going. I remember getting ■■■■■■ in a pub near there one Friday night and then getting married in Bedford the next morning.

Went past this one the other day and it is all boarded up. On the A38 north out of Bristol just before the end of the Filton airfield runway. The next cafe further on prior to road improvements in the late 1960,s was the Black & White cafe.

Cheers Phil.

Bridies was derelict last time I passed and that was about 30 years ago. User from those halcyon days will remember the room maids on tap

anyone remember the enterprise café between st.neots and Cambridge on the roundabout good place

I remember the Enterprise always went there after loading Pye TVs. Nice modern building and spotlessly clean. How about Rayner’s with the Barreros Dodges that ran from next door?

ye that’s the one last time I was by looked like a gippo spot the staff there always polite and didn’t need a mortgage for your brekkers .
