Watch out on the A14, there’s a 12 plate white magnum with old bill in and its def not restricted, passenger plod has video camera
What a ■■■■ take. Fair enough to disable the limiter and do 60 on the motorway, but to be speeding on a dc to MAYBE catch a driver on the phone just ain’t on

Its all a game, not to be taken seriously.
If you get to the end of your shift with out getting caught, you win.
the old bill were doing the same thing around the m18/m62 area a while ago, cost a lad i used to work with his job, he got caught without a seatbelt on and on our daily time sheet, it says “have you been stopped by the police today” he ticked yes and shot himself in the foot,so after forgetting to disconnect the airlines and snapping them all and lateness, he was shown the door.

So in fairness, getting stopped by the police didn’t cost him his job, being a complete and utter nob did!

Both for not wearing his seatbelt and for admitting to it.
Well if I were up that way, I would have to take a sheet of A4 and a marker pen and write on it “what’s it like to have no friends” and hold it up when they drew alongside.

I would say the lateness cost him his job, especially if it was a regular occurence, the air lines would be enough to tip him over the edge. I shouldn’t think the police had any input into it.
The White Magnum on the A14 is one of many lorries without a trailer and two rather smug blokes in it. If they are gaining on you that fast then it is time to put your phone down between your knees or check your seatbelt.
You can’t blame the police for just doing their job. They are assigned to the traffic unit for a reason, to deal with crime committed on the roads. So all this ■■■■■■■■ about you should be out catching “real” criminals is a load of nonsense.
At the end of the day if you are a law abiding driver you have nothing to worry about. If you don’t wear your seatbelt or talk on the phone then you know it’s illegal and can’t really complain for being ticketed. Ffs a Bluetooth ear piece only costs about a tenner! I sometimes think it is a macho status thing why people use the phone whilst driving. “look at me I’m breaking the law and I don’t care!”.
At the end of the day no one is perfect. I’ve been caught for speeding before and also for no seat belt (which I didn’t get ticketed for), so if we break the law we all know the possible outcomes should we be caught.

Agree 100% with above post!! Drive legal nothing to worry about - and I pull a bulk tipper.
just a thought, and I agree with the postings above. But having an unrestricted unit only powering along, would it have difficulty in stopping in a hurry - esp if of 4x2 configuration??

At the end of the day, at the end of the day.
Tell me why do all these things happen at the end of the day!

I agree with your post but i really don’t see why they need a truck unlimited burning tax payers fuel bombing up and down the motorway looking at truck drivers there’s a) enough camera by the side of the road and sure fixing a camera to top of a car (google car style) would be alot cheaper then training officers to drive a HGV again and fuelling it

just because the polititions make laws, it dosn’t make them right. most of the traffic laws, especially laws regarding HGVs are made to make money with a pretence that they are making the roads safer.
in some countries they would chop off a starving mans hands for stealing bread. does it have to get to those extremes before people realise that things have gone to far?
or would people still say things like
you know it’s illegal and can’t really complain

Which stretch of the A14 ■■. its patrolled by 3 different forces. Suffolk. Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.
We have an ‘Old Bill’ working for us, he’s uncouth, dirty, eats with his mouth wide open and never washes his hands, he chain smokes and really gets up my nose … other than that I like the old geezer

They didn’t in the early 80’s, they were much faster and the brakes were poorer. A good E14 would do 80mph
The wouldn’t have to be bombing along to pass me cause I would only be doing 50mph, my phone would be in my pocket, my seatbelt would be on and there would be no paperwork, food or drink on the dash.
Oh and a big fat smug grin on my face!

surely if the unit in question is not fitted out with blues and twos and tending to a “job” that requires the blues… then their speed limit by law is 50mph ). therefore they are breaking the speed limit law themselves to catch others being naughty?
