Old Atkinson

Had a double take moment today.Saw an Atkinson pulling a curtainside trailer.
No time too take a pic,it was going the other way in Cheney Manor ie, Swindon.Dark blue ,M reg, with “Comfortex” on the sign board.
Presume it had been for its test . . cant be still working for a living can it ?
Anybody know about the lorry ?

Still working , delivering mattress 's ,recently went to Germany collecting machinery .

There was an article about this lorry in Classic Commercials two or three months ago.
The man who owns it and drives it - and also restored it - is the managing director of Comfortex and likes to take it out and about as often as possible as he felt it should be used and seen. Obviously, due to constraints on his time, he can only take it out a couple of times a week and according to the article it’s not local runs - he gets pretty well across the country!

Steve

The chap that owns it is Ray Beckwith his son Nathan also has a1993 Volvo F12 in the same fleet colours .The Atki was restored by Richardsons of Oldham .I see it quite a lot around the Oldham area and his trailers are parked in Richardsons yard.
Here it is on the car park at the Motormans cafe Standage January last year during a event thats organised for the 1st sunday of the new year.

Big write up about it in the May 2016 edition of Classic & Vintage Commercials magazine.
