Oh NO

caravan sales are booming. Think of the queues on the motorway while police clear overturned caravans!!!. Or crawling for miles at 20mph!!.

Is that slower than a ‘tortoise:question:

Oh dear, spring is in the air and about the same time the “caravan police” start to raise their heads above the parapet.

Contrary to popular belief accidents involving caravans overturning are very few, it’s because they are highlighted in traffic reports that make it appear that they are overturning more often

Most of the time caravans will keep up with the flow of traffic, if you ever get stuck behind one it’s usually because they are stuck behind a slow moving vehicle and can’t get past, just like us they need a lot of time and space to overtake.

Now, where’s my flak jacket?

As Lee Evans says about caravans (and he lays into them big time :stuck_out_tongue: ) - "they’ve got more mirrors than the Hubble spacecraft

contains some strong language

Good isnt it more work for me,

Fibreglass shed pullers should only be allowed on the road between 10pm and 6am. After all, as they always tell us - “we have everything we need in the caravan” so it shouldn’t be too much of a problem for them to pull over for a few hours should it?

Good ol’ Ken Bruce would be proud to hear these comment,

Can I just point out to my fellow HGV drivers, when I go along an ‘A’ road legally at 50/60 mph - WHO IS IT HOLDS ME UP■■?

HA HA HA HA HA HA

40mph MY ARSE

it does make it a bit more interesting in the services though, saw a wagon pull in to fleet sometime last year and there was only one space left as a lot of spaces were taken up by cars and tupperware tents so he moved over a little bit and completely blocked the caravan door.

i was sat having my break opposite and was ■■■■■■■ myself with laughter as i had just watched mum dad and three kids go inside for some reason. as i could see down the side i could see they could only open thier door about 2 inches and yell at the driver who just jumped out of his cab and wandered over to the services laughing his head off.

i cant wait for the chance to do it this year a few times! please god, let me do it!

LMFAO!

Brilliant tale, why can’t these muppets park in the car area- there is usually loads of space? :unamused:

Because unless there is a dedicated area for caravans, the signs direct caravans to the HGV parking area :unamused:

When they should be directed to the empty Coach park!

Good point,

Being a HGV driver who happens to own a caravan I don’t see a problem with us sharing the parking areas, after all we’re all in the same boat, we’re all heading somewhere and we all need a break

Here we go again, every bloody year is the same. We have had the first one of the season here in the Midlands already… :imp: :imp:
Trouble is caravans spend 50 weeks of the year on the front drive annoying the neighbors and then the idiots just load it willy nilly and wonder why they are unstable…
They should only be allowed on a public highway between Midnight and 4am for everyone’s safety… :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

When you are towing your Van you can at least choose when to take a break, when driving the truck you cannot, so you may find yourself not being able to stop in an MSA beacause you cannot park legally, or even properly due to inconsiderate parking of Vans■■?

Why can’t these people get on a plane to go on holiday like normal people do… :imp: :imp:

been driving trucks for over 20 years and i have never been troubled by a caravan. ever.
so last year i went and got one. :open_mouth:
it was great
except for that fact that towing a caravan is a pain on motorways because of trucks.
trucks taking miles to overtake just because its a fraction faster than the one infront.
it done my head in.
so i went and bought a 33 foot american rv. v8 diesel, smidge under 7.5 ton. back in the outside lane again. :sunglasses: limiters my arrrrrsssssssssssss

you hear on the radio everyday of overturned trucks and jackknifed trucks. every day■■?,
but when its a caravan OMG. bloody caravans. :unamused:

ive travelled a fair bit on planes. seen some nice places. :sunglasses:

however the last thing i want to do for a holiday is to spend hours sitting at a poxy airport. fly to spain, stop in a crappy hotel, eat a full english and then make my way to an english bar and watch sky sports till the wee hours and puke up everywhere.
then on return to the uk. spend another 3 hours waiting to clear customs because there are twenty thousand foreigners in front of me. :imp:

it should be like in the states.
2 ques. them and us.
guess which que would be longer. :stuck_out_tongue:

If I can’t park at a MSA because there are no spaces be it trucks or caravans the I’ll drive to the next one or find a nearby lay by, I never leave it to the last minute for a tacho break for just that reason

Cos I spend enough time around airports when I’m working, why would I want to go near one when I’m on holiday? :smiling_imp:
