To be Scottish, Irish or Welsh that’s fine

But don’t say you’re English, that’s way out of line.

The French and the Germans may call themselves such

So may Norwegians, the Swedes and the Dutch

You can say you are Russian or maybe a Dane

But don’t say you’re English ever again.

At Broadcasting House the word is taboo

In Brussels it’s scrapped, in Parliament too

Even schools are affected. Staff do as they’re told

They must not teach children about England of old.

Writers like Shakespeare, Milton and Shaw

The pupils don’t learn about them anymore

How about Agincourt, Hastings, Arnhem or Mons?

When England lost hosts of her very brave sons.

We are not Europeans, how can we be?

Europe is miles away, over the sea

We’re the English from England, let’s all be proud

Stand up and be counted - Shout it out loud!

Let’s tell our Government and Brussels too

We’re proud of our heritage and the Red, White and Blue

Fly the flag of Saint George or the Union Jack

Let the world know -

Gotta spread it about somehow, and if say i took the letter “u” out of the offensive word, and replaced it with an asterix “*” would it then be allowed?

No, have a read of Rule 3.

[zb] is the only acceptable replacement.

No one more proud to call myself an Englishman and would echo the sentiments that it’s PC to call ourselves English, but it was the allied forces who died at Arnheim and Mons. Also the English flag is not red, white and blue. It’s red and white. If as an English man we want to stand alone and be proud we need to accurate.

I’m not English so I don’t count, but there again neither was St George. :smiley:

It was mostly the French who died at Agincourt. The English took so many prisoners they realised they had more prisoners than soldiers to look after them so they slaughtered the lot except of course the rich ones they could get a ransom for.

Fly the flag of Saint George or the Union Jack Red White and Blue is the UNION FLAG - St George’s flag (THE ENGLISH FLAG) is red and white - you’ll find the Union Jack on the back of a boat/ship at sea

The problem, as I see it, is that the English are not entirely sure what is English and what is not. Feel free to have England back, but please leave Ireland, Scotland and Wales intact!

It’s because the Irish,Scottish,and Welsh originally spoke a Celtic language with Gallic/Gaelic differences, and much later on English was adapted as the standard common language.
